400,000 overdose deaths in U.S. attributed to Sackler family

How many deaths can we attribute to McKinsey? Skip to 12:00 if you want. But the whole thing is important.

I was seeing a pain management practice that prescribed them routinely and probably still does— there are still lots of these places out there.
It is wonderful no longer counting pills, running out early, white knuckling it to refill day, thinking about them obsessively.
I blame the entire system from the manufacturers to the physicians to the patients like me.

Good for you. Truly.

Exclusive: OxyContin made the Sackler family billions—but now, after 400,000 deaths, it’s made them near-pariahs. For the first time, David Sackler pleads his case.

I don’t blame them. Take some accountability for your own actions.

To those saying it’s the patients’ fault or the doctors’ fault- read the evidence on this! The marketing machine led by the Sacklers was insane and filled with lies.
For a comparison, see the UK, where opioids were expected to be a huge crisis because typically things follow the US, but have not been because the marketing was not the same and doctors do not routinely prescribe them.
Anecdotally, I had a minor procedure a few months ago that the surgeon told me would only be mildly painful and treatable with tylenol. When I checked into the surgery he had prescribed OxyContin for afterwards, and I asked why since he has said it wouldn’t be painful. He said, “it doesn’t hurt to have the option!” I did not take the prescription and I did not need it at all. Tylenol absolutely sufficed. Ridiculous that he wanted to prescribe it..

Problem solved - just like the guy who invented dynamite set up the Nobel Prize.

They gave a huge named donation to Cornell’s medical school, which took their name off the medical school after this.

So what's the latest on the Sackler family? Have they paid any restitutions to ravaged American towns and communities?

Oh are they gonna burn in Hell for all eternity for what they did...
