Also, I'm surprised Bohemian Rhapsody did so well. It was panned by the critics, so I was shocked the HFPA picked it for Best Drama.

Also, what's up with both Bohemian Rhapsody and A Star is Born NOT being categorized under Best Comedy or Musical?!? These were clearly both Musical films.

What a weird year.

Seriously. Christian Bale transforms himself for Vice (as usual) and Malik does what, put in some fake teeth and he gets best actor? yeah sure great.

Did you watch Bohemian Rhapsody?

No I'm a huge Queen fan too--but after Sasha Baron Cohen dropped out I assumed it would suck because why else did he quit? Cohen or Bale would have been my choice for Freddy. But point taken, I should probably see it.

Huge fan here too. Heck, I watched Live Aid live! Let me know what you think after you watch it, if you remember? I can't possibly imagine Cohen in that role, all of his Borat work would make him unbelievable to me. I think if he was given more screen time in the movie, he would have been even better.

What I don't understand is the media outrage that Singer wasn't mentioned during the awards? I just don't get it. So, are we over #MeToo? I wonder if they thanked Singer if media would have been outraged by that too?!

Wow I didnt realize she had never won anything!

Super behind on the movie nominees but thrilled that The Americans won. Such a good show, especially the final season. Wished they had won the acting awards too but so glad the show finally got some recognition!

Yeah! Loved the show, and loved how genuinely excited they were to win. I hope the creators/writers work together again.

So much hypocrisy.

Sacha seems to have had creative differences with the band.

I actually think he could have LOOKED more like Freddy.

I had trouble with Rami in that role because of his Mr Robot role. I think he did a great job with the acting, but I still wasn’t 100% into it.

Actually, I think she’s cooled it since her lips and boobs blew up a dozen years ago. They’ve all since resumed their normal size.

She still looks really melty/waxy here...

Her husband is so gross.

You may not like his music or rocker look for her but he’s not in any way gross.

He is no alpha male so I don't consider him sexy at all. Yuck.

Agree x 1,000. Plus what's with his shoes? They look like therapeutic lifts of some sort.

^why are you so hung up on the +1 of an actress? No one is arguing with you because most pps are talking about the nominees and winners. We understand that he’s not alpha enough for you. I’m fairly confident absolutely no one cares.

They wore black one year so I guess all the #MeToo is over.

Who’s outraged? I’m probably reading the wrong media....

I don't watch Mr. Robot, so that might be why I thought he was very good.

He didn't. Singer gave a statement after he was fired that it had nothing to do with Malek. Google it. Do you really think an actor that had one other notable role could fire Singer?

Hahahahahahahaha my favorite fashion critics at Go Fug Yourself called this look “sexy Tootsie” which nails it.

It only gets about 1+ million viewers, so I'm not surprised not many people knew him before this.

I think Sacha could have pulled off the LOOK of Freddy better. But the band apparently loved Rami and thought he did a great job with Freddy's essence/attitude. And it sounds like he was good with whatever the band wanted in terms of story.

I think he acted the hell out of it, and definitely got the mannerisms right. I will always see rami as the odd little dude Elliott on Mr. Robot, though.

people are just making s*** up now. The only people outraged are those responding to Bryan Singer's online response and acceptance. People are pissed about that.

I think both of these movies/biopics were dramas about musicians, not musicals, per se. No dancing sequences, catchy-type songs and the like. That is why they were not considered musicals.

Agree on the distinction between musical and movie about music.

Bohemian Rhapsody was an amazing movie. The fan reviews are MUCH higher than that critic ratings on sites like rotten tomatoes. So it seems to have resonated with audiences. Maybe SBR would have been a better Freddie, but Malek was excellent.

I also loved a Star is Born, but not as much as BR. Gaga should have won an award, not so sure about Cooper.
