Yes. Hampton Chase/Forest, Buckley's Reserve and some other areas (Colchester Road and others) go to Lanier and FHS.

They are not at the mercy of an incompetent county-wide facilities department and School Board like Chantilly HS and McLean HS.

That may be. But that makes it one of "best" maybe? Which is the topic of the thread. And we are subject to the transportation, for example.

Also, there are ES no in the "city" which are zoned for Lanier/Fairfax.

Both Providence and Daniels Run feed to Lanier/Fairfax. If you live in City if Fairfax and attend public school that is your path. If you are thinking of Mosby Woods Or Fairfax Villa both are outside city borders and are not City of Fairfax schools.

Sorry, my phone was helping me out and butchered my PP and I didn't check it. "They are the only ES not in the city." It was my understanding the other two were in the city but maybe they technically are not. THey are def much closer to Lanier/Fairfax than Willow.

Yeah, it’s one of those things. WSES has been going to Lanier/Fairfax forever. My niece will go that path. My sister thought it might change but her good friend did the same path 30 years ago.

Unless it has changed, a small section of GBW zoned students also are Lanier.

Not now. Just part of Greenbriar East. GBW is Chantilly/Rocky Run.

Even farther from Lanier and Fairfax HS than that. Neighborhoods off of Stringfellow Road like Fair Lakes Glen. Two miles from Chantilly HS, two miles from Centreville HS. 8-9 miles from Fairfax HS. It's asinine.

The long-term solution is for FCPS to cut ties with Fairfax City and build another school further west. As long as Fairfax City requires every student to attend Lanier/Fairfax, the boundaries will be distorted.

Without the county kids, though, the Lanier/Fairfax tear scores would be lower.

We just moved for best schools. We bought in Cooper/Langley pyramid. We were also looking in the Longfellow/McLean pyramid but we liked the houses in the Langley side better.

These also happen to be the more affluent pyramids in FCPS. Many people move here for schools so you have a mix of wealthy successful parents and/or parents who move here seeking good schools. It really feels like all parents are vested in kids education.

It's educational gerrymandering. My neighbor was told years ago by a School Board member that our neighborhood way out here would never be allowed to leave Fairfax HS because of what it would do to test scores and student involvement/parent participation.

If you go by US News rankings, which unlike GreatSchools, takes IB into account, Marshall beats Madison and Chantilly:

It also beats Bethesda-Chevy Chase and Winston Churchill in terms of national rankings

TJ is the best high school in VA followed by Langley and McLean High.

Yes, that is what the rankings say. lol

But let's be clear, once you get to the level of even Chantilly at 500th in the nation, you are talking about the top 2.5% of all high schools in the nation. DO you really think your poor child will suffer at the 97.5th percentile versus the 99th percentile. Hilarious
