The divorce was finalized in NY within 2 months of her filing. They did have a pre-nup. NY allows for quick divorces, not sure where the one-year waiting period PP is referencing came from.

Different states have different waiting periods where you have to live separate and apart (or not as man and wife if you happen to still live under the same roof for financial reasons).  DC you can get divorced like the same day.  VA is at least six months for a no fault.  Others are different.  The more conservative the state, the longer the waiting period, generally.[/quote]
Yes. Go back a page and read what was cut off in this post. It was getting too long. A previous poster claimed you had to be separated in NY for a year before the divorce. That is not true. [/quote]
