Three-year-old is really creeping me out.

Since my dd was 18mo she has pointed to a corner in her room and said there was a witch. She’s two now and the witch wants to poke her in the belly with her finger and drain the blood. I honestly think she sees a shadow and she’s seen something on tv somewhere probably when she was younger. (Like we may have watched GOT in front of her when she was 15mo)

My childhood best friend had this exact same recurring nightmare about a witch poking her belly with her finger and draining her blood! Can't have been GOT since this was maybe 1990... weird!

Let's talk about the very, very important concept of Dominion. Simply put, WE run the show in this earth reality. We have dominion over our space. We are in charge. And spiritual beings know it. However, they are also pretty good at picking up on people who don't understand this. And sometimes the lower vibration entities will take advantage of that. It especially happens with earth bound spirits, what some people call ghosts.

The spirit your daughter is seeing in her room is causing her fear. Threatening to bite her? Really? I'm pissed off for you and for your daughter! How dare he! He needs to go. Right now. And it's almost always super easy to get rid of an earthbound spirit. Get some white sage. Go into the room when your daughter is not there. Stand in your dominion. Remember that you are in charge. There is nothing to fear. Ghosts are just people who are no longer alive. Tell him to leave. There is no reason to be rude. Simply say - This is my house. You do not belong here. You need to leave this house immediately and do not return. I send you away towards love and light. If you want to add punch to it, ask Jesus or an archangel (Michael is my go-to) for help. You don't have to believe in any of it. Just say the words. Light the sage and gently blow it out so that it is just smoking. Walk around the room with the sage. Don't forget to sage the hell out of the closet. Open the window when you are finished. Voila. Clean room. 99% of the time that's all it takes.

PP, why would a spirit threaten to bite the OP's DD?

Because he is an asshole. Earthbound spirits (ghosts) are just people who have died. Just like in our reality, there are good people and sketchy people. When a person dies, they almost always cross into what we often call "the light". The ones who don't usually fall into one of three categories, in my experience. (1) They are genuinely lost. This can happen after a sudden, unexpected death. It usually doesn't last long. (2) They were not very good people when they were alive and they fear judgment. They believe they will be punished. Or (3) They are still attached to something here on earth. Usually these are people who lived shady lives and are still attracted to it. Drug users, gamblers, .... We still have free will after we die. People have to choose to cross over. Most of the ones who won't are not the kind of people you want around.

Talking to deceased loved ones is totally different. These spirits have crossed over. Many are able to "meet us in the middle" for lack of better term. Totally different from communicating with earth bound ghosts. You can tell the difference by how they feel, if that makes sense.

The spirit messing with the OP's child is doing it because he can. He knows the child can see him. He knows she is scared. He is just an asshole. The same way he was when he was alive. He needs to go.

So what do the spirits look like? Or do you just hear them?

I get this question a lot. I would love for other empaths and mediums to jump on and share their experiences! It's interesting how differently people can perceive the same thing. Everyone reads energy differently. Everyone sees spirits differently. Mediums use their "clairs" to "see" spirits.

Clairvoyance is clear seeing, but not necessarily with your eyes. I "see" spirits in my minds eye. They usually present themselves to me in a way that my client will recognize. For example, I might see an older lady with gray hair and a red dress for a client. The spirit isn't wearing physical clothes. But the dress probably has some significance for the client. Maybe she is holding a purple feather. It may not make sense to me, but it likely will hold meaning for a client. (That's actually a real example. The client and her great, grandmother found a bright purple feather on a beach.)

Claircognizance is clear knowing. You can't explain why you know something, you just do. I think most people have this ability. We ignore it way too often. This happened to me before 9/11 for example. I knew something awful was going to happen. In my dream, it was a terrible plane crash. I saw planes and buildings and fire. I didn't get any information that would have been useful. But I did "know" something was off. Same thing happened to me before the Las Vegas concert shootings. I dreamed something terrible happened in the desert. In my dream, I heard symphonic music. I didn't know it was going to be a shooting. I just knew something terrible was going to happen in the desert and that it involved music. Again, not enough to help anyone. But I knew.

Clairaudience is clear hearing. Sometimes I can hear a spirit talking to me. Sometimes it's words. Often it's music or tones. Religious people will often talk about the "still, small voice of God". That's clairaudience.

Clairsentience is clear feeling. You actually feel what your client feels. This is my strongest clair. I can feel pain when another person is sick or hurt. A really simple example - Trey Gowdy is sick. He may not even realize it. But I can feel it when I look at him, even on television. It's either heart or lung. It feels like it may be mostly stress and anxiety (at least I hope that's all it is). It feels like heaviness in my chest When my sister went into labor three weeks early, I knew it before she told anyone. And we were living overseas. I felt it in my abdomen. I called my mother before she did. When my son broke his arm at school, I was already in the car driving to the school when the nurse called me. I felt it in my arm. I woke up at 2am with searing pain in my ankle. We were about to head to the ER when it went away as quickly as it came. My grandmother died at 2:14am. We found out the next morning. From a blood clot in her ankle.

Some people even smell or taste things that spirits want them to know about. Perfume is super common. Most empaths use a combination of clairs, but we usually have some that are stronger than others.

Also, spirits can present themselves in different ways. It's not easy for them to manipulate things in our physical environment. Just like it's hard for us to perceive things in theirs. We have to meet them in the middle most of the time. They can look like shadows, mists, lights, orbs, outlines, sometimes you'll see a full body for just a millisecond, sometimes just a face,... Loved ones will try to appear as we remember them. Most of the time I feel a spirit before I ever see it. Keep in mind that if you are trying to contact a deceased loved one and they know you will be scared by their presence, they aren't going to pop up in front of you. They are much more likely to send you signs. Watch for anything that repeats in your environment. Watch for objects that are not in their ordinary place - maybe a feather in an apartment complex, for example. Watch for strange behavior in your electronics. Or subtle changes in temperature. My grandmother loves to send smells. And it always makes me smile.

I don't think they are. At least not in my experience. I had a client who had a ghost that they thought was attached to their house. It was actually attached to a piece of furniture she purchased at an antique store.

So you should burn sage around all antique furniture you buy in addition to the house? Serious question.

Another question for the very kind medium on this forum -- have any pets ever appeared to you?

I say this because the day after I had to put my beloved pet to sleep after 18 years, I was walking in the woods near the National Cathedral (Olmstead Walk). I was crying so much, as he was my closest companion. I was married with young children at the time, but my pet and I had been together long years prior to my marriage and starting a family. Other pet lovers will understand.

As I walked, I saw a huge tuft of white fur on the path. He was a huge white cat. I like to believe that it was a sign from him. Do you have any insights?

I’ve often wondered about this. I have an old 1930’s floor model radio that I’ve had for decades. In my early 20’s I lived in an old apartment (1930’s-40’s era) that I always thought was haunted. I never saw anything, but I sometimes hear strange sounds-water running when no faucets were on, etc. and would often get a creepy feeling. The apartment after that was also of the same era but didn’t give me the same creepy feeling. Then I got a cat, and the cat would routinely go and sit in the apartment entry way near where I kept the radio and stare at empty space. Sometimes he would tense up and hop around like he saw something. I also started feeling uneasy at times coming in the entry way of that aprtment. That was when I started wondering about the radio.

I got married, moved to a 50’s rambler in another state, and then now to a 40’s colonial. I still have the radio but no creepy feelings anymore. But I think my current house has/had the spirit of the original owner in it. When we first moved in and I was spending a lot of time by myself stripping wallpaper and painting, I would get a peaceful feeling and would sometimes talk to her. We’ve been in the house a few years and that energy has faded.

So I guess my question is, do spirits inhabiting furniture change when the item is moved from apartment to apartment or house to house? Does the house effect the force of the energy in the piece?

I’m still not convinced it’s anything other than my daughters imagination. But I will say, reading the thread has me fascinated. I can’t say I believe in spirits or another paranormal dimension. DH was raised very anti-theists and I was raised very Catholic. It took me a very long time to let go of those beliefs, and sometimes they creep back. I think people want to make sense of the unexplained, the odd... I feel like if I were to burn sage I would be accepting a reality I don’t believe in...

That being said, at this point I’d love for my daughter to quit the talk about it. We now barely acknowledge her when she mentions him (usually as soon as she gets up, and before bed). We don’t want our reaction to encourage it. I feel like most three-year-olds would have dropped it by now. She’s very insistent.

This morning she told me he crawled under her bed, she knew he was there but couldn’t cry or he’d go and “bite the baby” instead. I have a 4 month old as well, who sleeps across the hall. This made me teary as DD is not a fan of her baby sister. She either openly ignored her, complains about her or at times, is mean to her. The idea that she was ok with this entity being her room so it didn’t hurt her sister made me emotional.

I am starting to wonder if she’s experiencing sleep paralysis. As an infant she’d wake up screaming a few times, and be hard to calm down (this was when we were in our old house).

I talked to my mother about it, and she is team “spirit”. She mentioned she hasn’t explained tetanus to her, but maybe her older brother did.

I know DS isn’t trying to scare her, because DS is a massive scaredy cat. He can’t handle a storyline with the tiniest bit of upheave. He’s ultra sensitive to emotions and fear, and if DD starts talking about the Rusty Man he runs away because terrifies him. Although the almost never mentions him when she’s not in bed I realized. It’s when I’m getting her up or putting her down for bed. She mentions it to our nanny during nap time.

I am fearful, but not of ghosts. Sometimes I do wonder if she has a mild onset of schizophrenia. She has exhibited some other behaviors, somewhat mild.

Maybe a ghost would be better.

OP, all I'd say is don't just block it out but ask about it calmly with specific questions. If your child is going through it, ignoring it won't help them be comforted. I am catholic (born and raised) and don't believe whole heartedly in the catholicism either, but believe in some sort of non-physical form (call it spirits or whatever). I know atheists who believe in this stuff. As I said, religion has NOTHING to do with spirituality. People confuse/conflate the two all the time. There are spiritual people who don't believe the first thing about organized religion and there are religious people who believe this stuff is nonsense.

No, she has not seen The Wizard of Oz. My seven-year-old saw it when he was five and it terrified him. He’s also imaginative but very very easily spooked.

OP, the answer is obvious. Your 7 year old saw the Wizard of Oz and learned about the tin man, and rust and it terrified him. He is very imaginative and made up some kind of story about the Tin Man living in a closet and shared that story at some point with your 3 year old, who is also very imaginative.

The whole "there's a monster in my bed, if I stay under the covers he won't get me" is primal.

Ask your 7 year old what kind of stories he's been sharing. When I was 7 and my brother was 4 I told him about he marshmallow monster.

I think this is the answer.

How do I find a real medium to visit and not just “fortune teller” on the side of the road? My experience has been good ones don’t advertise

Medium here - If you ever have the chance to visit Cassedaga, Florida (google it), you'll find some fantastic mediums! Otherwise, the best advise is to use your intuition. If you are looking at a list of mediums, does one jump out at you? If you walk by the office, do you feel pulled to visit? I wanted to get a reading from a well-known, well-respected psychic in New Orleans. But when I went into her store, I just didn't get a good feeling. That doesn't mean she wasn't the real deal. She just wasn't the right person for me.

You should know in advance how much she charges. Anyone that tries to sell you additional information is a fraud. Walk away. There should be no "for an additional $50, I can...." . That's a con artist, not a psychic. A psychic will explain that predicting the future is impossible. We always have free will. A reader can tell you likely outcomes should you continue on the same path, but you can always, always, always change your future. There shouldn't be parlor tricks or moaning. No moving tables or ridiculous flashing lights Everything should be very straightforward. It will feel more like a therapy session than anything else.

All you have to do is say, "If you ate from the light, you are welcome. If not, GO.!"

Sleep with her for a few nights- you might get an idea of what she is actually seeing. You can finish this quickly.
