For sure, but also comforting in some ways. I think people confuse atheism with spiritualism. Spiritualism is agnostic of any specific religion if that makes sense. There are spiritual atheists, and spiritual (insert religion here). |
If what you wrote is true - and there is no way she could have known that her great-grandmother had an accent or was called Kitty - how can you think it was anything except a ghost?! |
I remember a kid I used to babysit right when he was learning to talk. He would point at empty stairways and ask “who is that?” repeatedly. So creepy.
He was trying to ask “where’s it going” (answer: to the attic) but didn’t have the vocabulary. You know how kids just keep repeating themselves until you figure out what they mean. |
I really wish I’d never read this thread!! |
Creepy, but it's probably just based on something she overheard. Kids hear everything, even when you think they aren't paying attention. Even if it wasn't from you, it could have been a conversation among people at a restaurant, in line at Starbucks, etc. We've never talked about monsters with my DD but she still talks about how she's afraid of monsters.
I had a niece who talked about "the visitors". If you wore a shirt with a zipper, she would zip it all the way up so it covered your mouth and say "you look like a visitor". Still have no idea what they are. |
As adults we tell ourselves that "it's just make believe" to comfort ourselves (I do it too). The reality is probably that some/many kids are like the little boy in the sixth sense. ![]() |
I got my place blessed by the Minister at my church OP. Can't hurt.
Catholics believe in demons etc. so maybe go to the local Catholic church? |
False. |
I think even if you're not religious, you can still burn sage or something:
https://www.wellandgood.com/good-home/how-to-sage-your-home-correctly/ I don't think that would scare your kids. Just say you want to have lots of good energy in your house. Weird question but is your house a new build? Do you know anything about the former occupants? We apparently had a former owner die in our master bedroom and I know I felt her energy in that room. Not bad energy, kinda benevolent actually. |
I totally used to a see a ghost-like kid in my room when I was little, right outside of my closet. I can still picture him vividly, he was sort of sepia tones, in what now I consider, like, depression era farmer's clothing, blond hair. He was so vivid to me, I would see him before I'd fall asleep, when I was sick with fever, etc. I was always comforted by him, never scared. Once I hit teenage years I never saw him again but I can still picture him exactly.
My parents still won't talk about it. |
What does she know about rust? I think that's an odd word for a three year old to know. Do you guys talk about rust a lot?
What does she know about blood? Why would she think her blood would turn to rust? Sounds like she's heard or seen something about the tin man in Wizard of Oz, or vampires biting and turning you into something.... Scooby Doo? Maybe at the dentist or doctor's office or something, where someone may have had a screen on that she could see? |
Also, could be a tale she heard from other kids at playgroup, the playground, etc. Just sitting in the sandbox. |
Poster with a new baby here--at what age do you need to stop watching things like GOT in front of them? |
I’d do some intense research into the history of your house, especially if it’s older. I would die if you found out some guy died of tetanus or something in your daughters room.
