I think it depends. I know longer live in MD, but here in DC many schools have this, and it's great for working parents. Also, my child transitioned seamlessly from FT daycare, to PK3 in DCPS. It was great--teacher was wonderful, and she already had great buddies from the two prior years heading into K.

Also, I think universal pre-K can be tremendously helpful for kids from disadvantaged backgrounds.

You all do realize that there's already free Pre-K for families who meet the income requirements in MOCO, right? I just think we need to fix so many other things right now- transportation, attracting businesses, etc.

Most middle class families don’t qualify. But in most families women bear most of the childcare responsibility. Universal prek will help women most, regardless of class, if they want to be part of the workforce.

Fully support free Pre-K. Just worry how academic pre-K has become. I think there should be a mix of play and learning or both. (BTW I'm a former teacher living in the Appalachian part of the state. I think Jealous will do more for the people here than any Republican.)

I agree. Chevy Chase family. I actually said to my partner this morning that it might be time to move to NW DC and go private schools if Jealous wins.

Can not take more tax increases to pay for more free stuff. The last property tax increase took our home from what we could afford to stretching it once it was reassessed. And the schools have only gotten worse to the point we are already considering going into debt to pay for private.

I am voting for Hogan, he is centrist. As much as I like the idea of free universal pre-k and free community college, who the hell will pay for it? Certainly not the wealthy, many tax laws favor the wealthy. It’s why President Trump was able to get away with paying virtually little to no tax. My dear brethren it will be the middle class who will pay the tax increases as it has always been. We the little people don’t have enough knowledge or resources to use little unknown tax loopholes.
