The current zones for middle schools, of which there are two for the city. The disparity between Hammond and GW is staggering. |
They have an equal GS rating of 3. How is the disparity staggering? |
The GS ranking is based - for every school - on reports submitted by GS participants. Those reports can be uneven and sparse and some people don’t regard them as being accurate or comprehensive. Alexandria parents seem to understand that GW is generally well-regarded but is physically falling apart (quite literally), and that FH has a prior history, only recently changed by the very good current Principal, of not being academically high-quality and being a chaotic environment. The schools have not been comparable to each other. And there is very much an SES difference between the two zones, just as there will be between the existing high school and the new west end high school. |

Well PP, just recently the City Manager and Staff got outed for mis-informing residents on Potomac Yard. Indeed a formal apology has been issued by Mark Jinks.
Let's hope the same happens on this west end 2nd HS matter and soon. Let's bombard the probable new mayor (Justin Wilson) for facts. The more ALL residents of Alexandria pay attention to this matter the better. Word of this must spread w documents. Use newspapers. Call for editorial investigation. Get it out of ACPS proper into the news for public comments. |
Nothing in the last three documents points to two seperate 9-12 schools (if you think there is something in the first 69 page document, you need to tell me what page) The first powerpoint says nothing about the issue at all. The other two just show some teacher (mostly) feedback, and show disadvantages of all options. Nothing is teeing up two schools. We have been over this before. You claim they have decided on two schools, when challenged you provide links to docs that do NOT show what you say they show. |
I do not see what a discussion of mis interpretation of an NDA has to do with this - though I guess it shows the dangers of misintepreting documents. As for Wilson, I have seen your comment on his FB page. He specifically said that you are misreading the spec documents. I doubt council is going to be impressed with cranks, though we have a lot of them in our city. |
Which has not been proposed, and is not likely to be proposed. |
Show me a link to such a plan. Show me a list of school locations being considered. Interesting to see PP claiming TCW is not facing crowding, and assuming that the $ being programmed for HS capacity are for two geographic high schools, not for an expansion of Minnie Howard with division by grade. Perhaps is one of many Alexandria citizens who just does not want to spend more money on schools? |
The Alexandria Times published a chart listing each candidate and their position on the split. It's quite accessible. |
I missed that. Have a link? |
It was published by the Times. See the chart, 5th line, pages 24-25: https://alextimes.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/05_31_2018-Alex_Times_web.pdf |
Dear pp referenced here. I don't even have FaceBook. So I guess some Alexandria resident comments similarly. Let's not make accusations. Let's work together. Even Jeff's site can stand to better ACPS. |
Should there be two high schools in Alexandria? Says nothing about geography. Could be interpreted as seperate governance between 11-12 at TCW and 9-10 at Minnie Howard. No clarification or details from Alex Times. Not that I would expect clarity or nuance from Alex Times. Sorry, this means nothing. |
Accusations are all I hear from you. Maybe the FB person was your friend. Or your SO. Or you, despite your disavowal. Meanwhile I will wait to see what is actually proposed for HS capacity and ignore the hysteria. |
They’re talking about Ignatio. I don’t work at TC anymore (thank god) but I did several years ago. She was overly aggressive and not liked but apparently she’s worse than ever now. I guess getting promoted from asst principal at a school to to the Superintendent's office then busted back to asst principal will do that to you? I don’t know if her job security is because of her husband’s job or not, but she has someone’s ear for sure. Friends who still work there say she’s managed to run off some really talented teachers already-pretty impressive for 1st year back. Sadly, she's not the only problematic person on the TC leadership team. |
