Shutdown Rhetoric

Anonymous
What conservatives seem to have gotten is a path toward a real shutdown fight — one where House Republicans pass a DACA bill with no chance in the Senate and a defense appropriations bill that would break spending caps while giving non-defense nothing.

The Democrats are the only adults governing! The GOP are a bunch of spoiled babies.

You are sending them back to a country they don’t remember or have ties to, in many cases. If they came here as children, they are for all intensive purposes citizens.

Which is why an attempt is being made to help them out but it is an imperative that we minimize the possibility that it happens again and with the Democratic party being captive to the Hispanic lobby nothing will get passed in the way of meaningful border security without including DACA as part of the deal.

Pelosi asked Paul Ryan to put the bipartisan House deal on the floor for a vote. Paul Ryan said no.

Lindsey Graham and Jerry Moran asked for a 4-5 day funding extension to buy time for a bipartisan deal. Answer was no.

But at least four Republican Senators, probably more, oppose the GOP funding bill. This means Republicans do not even have a simple majority of 50 votes for their partisan bill.

With time running out, Trump thought it was more important to tweet the Fake News Awards and opposition to the House GOP bill.

So, we're full circle. Republicans can't govern. Strategy is now turning to how message blame. And oh - Trump is disappointed with Mitch again (for not being able to read his mind). Sad Mitch will now make a last ditch pitch to blame Dems as obstructionists.

They are doing a pretty good job so far: tax bill, judicial appointments at a record pace, deregulation, individual mandate repealed, a roaring stock market.

Yep.

Yep--another amnesty bill that means we will be back here again in a few. Sacrificing American citizens for Dreamers. We need to help the Dreamers--but Durbin's bill did nothingn to ensure security on the border. It was peanuts--and it did not provide closing of the loopholes that prevent border agents from doing their jobs properly.

Polling says the majority of Americans want dreamers to stay.

I have news for you, PP, securing the border will not stop illegal immigration. People overstay their visas, simple as that.

But, given the destroyed reputation of the US, I would not worry about people trying to emigrate here. Norwegians laughed in Trump's face. Hope you are ready to go pic that fruit in the heat, with no health or other benefits. But hey, jobs!

And no I don’t particularly care that they were brought as kids etc. But even if we were to work it out for them, now they want protections for their parents. GTFO. Why not protections for all their illegal aunts and 75 cousins each as well?

THIS. While I'm sympathetic to the plight of the Dreamers, and I hope that something is worked out to enable them to legally stay in the country, that's as far as my patience goes. Enough. And the aggressive way they're demanding to stay here is pretty off-putting. Stunts like this one, for instance, aren't doing them any favors.

Actually, none of them kept their word. It was meant to be instructive of the Apple poster's rosy glasses.

So GOP: are you going to deport 3.6 million people at gun point? Raid their homes and businesses, churches and schools?

You would need cattle cars to get that many people out of the country.

Is this the U.S. you want?

3.6 million people. How does the GOP propose dealing with this?

-Our great-grandchilden will be paying for the tax bill
-GOP refused to allow perfectly qualified nominees onto the bench. These are all stolen seats.
-Our children and grandchildren will be paying the health price for the deregulation, particularly on things like the use of dangerous pesticides. Why is that a win?
-I'll reserve judgement to see what the rest of the healthcare solution from the GOP is. As of now, the ACA had re-enrollment in high numbers despite efforts to surpress.
-The stock market is irrelevant to most Americans, but even if you want to be granted this credit, it went up more under Obama (so far) in terms of percentage growth.

Sorry but you are not likely to have great grand children because of reduced health care benefits, poor eating habits, and cancers caused by environmental pollution. Any grandchildren will not have the earning capacity to support children and will not reproduce. The US is changing dramatically and today's economy, culture and values will be gone in 20 years.

Ok, Chicken Little. Do you even hear yourself?

Really, concern for uninsured americans is histrionics? But a Mexican crosses the border and gets in a car accident, and it's all over right wing media.

Are you going to put them into railroad cars yourself? 3.6m Dreamers is a lot to transport across the border.
