Hillary and Trump were both hawks.

Duh.

Americans are paying attention right now. They want a permanent DACA resolution, they want CHIP funded for at least 6 if not 10 years (saves $6B over ten years to fund it now) and they want the nonsense to stop. The GOP are fully in control and could do all of this yesterday, but they aren't.

No way the dems get blamed for this.

If the Democrats want to hold the budget hostage because they want a DACA deal then shame on them. Deal with DACA separately. Shame an any party that continues to tack different agendas together as a way to fight the other side. The spending bill doesn't, and shouldn't, have anything to do with DACA.

Exactly.

The GOP won't let it come to the floor for a vote.

OK so that blew up in your face, pp's.

They are doing a pretty good job so far: tax bill, judicial appointments at a record pace, deregulation, individual mandate repealed, a roaring stock market.

-Our great-grandchilden will be paying for the tax bill
-GOP refused to allow perfectly qualified nominees onto the bench. These are all stolen seats.
-Our children and grandchildren will be paying the health price for the deregulation, particularly on things like the use of dangerous pesticides. Why is that a win?
-I'll reserve judgement to see what the rest of the healthcare solution from the GOP is. As of now, the ACA had re-enrollment in high numbers despite efforts to surpress.
-The stock market is irrelevant to most Americans, but even if you want to be granted this credit, it went up more under Obama (so far) in terms of percentage growth.

Sorry but you are not likely to have great grand children because of reduced health care benefits, poor eating habits, and cancers caused by environmental pollution. Any grandchildren will not have the earning capacity to support children and will not reproduce. The US is changing dramatically and today's economy, culture and values will be gone in 20 years.

Do you know why DACA is an issue today? Because the GOP was never once willing to put it to the floor for a vote, so no.

Exactly. The GOP as a whole hasn't acted in good faith on this issue at any point along the way. Dems would be fools to believe that if they pass this resolution the GOP will start negotiating sincerely on DACA.

After all, Susan Collins is still waiting on Obamacare stabilization, and the GOP isn't even pretending to keep their word on that one.

There is a viable proposal for dealing with DACA but it needs funding for the wall/enhanced border security, limiting chain migration, and cutting back on the number of new immigrants by limiting to a merit based system without regard to country of origin. If these are part of the legislation the DACA kids can be given right of residence and a pathway to citizenship.

So DACA beneficiaries are just pawns to achieve other ends. Got it.

DACA beneficiaries are getting a break if legislation passes. What is required is to take measures to minimize the likelihood of it happening again.

+100
Why is this so difficult for Dems to grasp?

They want to keep the borders open for another flood of illegals and we go through the same rigmarole again. I personally feel the DACA people even if they are given residence should never be allowed citizenship. But the Democrats will never agree to this because they want their votes.

Why not wait for the Supreme court to rule and then figure out the next step?

Because Trump told Congress to fix DACA when Sessions overturned Obama's EO.

So GOP: are you going to deport 3.6 million people at gun point? Raid their homes and businesses, churches and schools?

You would need cattle cars to get that many people out of the country.

Is this the U.S. you want?

3.6 million people. How does the GOP propose dealing with this?

But it has been stayed so we are back to where it was before Sessions action.

They can’t go with him?

The same party that marched lockstep in opposition to Obama for even the littlest things is now whining that Dems won't play nice?

McConnell needs to change the rules to eliminate the filibuster then this will be true. There is no reason 8 democrats should be able to shut the Government down.

I totally agree; at least change the rules for funding the government and for increasing the debt limit.

But it was ok when fewer republicans did it a few years ago.

dems could have mandated e-verify and eliminated chain migration but no Pelosi and Chuck would rather play politics.

uh, e-verify is a Shumer bill you moron. It was the GOP that never let it see the floor in the last 5 years.

Sheesh.
