Except Trump's own Justice Department just announced that there was no evidence that Trump was wiretapped. You may have missed it because they dumped it late on a Friday night.

To be fair, Trump wasn't wiretapped, Manafort was. And do you know why? Because he was colluding with the Russians, with Trump's approval, to win the election. So I guess you can say the President was vindicated while also likely implicated on tape, colluding with a foreign adversary to take the election.

Really, your anger should be directed towards the President and his campaign team that couldn't win on its own and needed Russian money and technology with a side dash of GOP voter suppression, to win the election.

So far of five sources, three say he did ask the Russians to help the Trump campaign, and two say the wording is not clear. The exact wording has not been released/leaked, afaik. And nothing in todays reports indicates anyone but Manafort knew, IIUC.

This is the part of the CNN story that interests me:

The conversations between Manafort and Trump continued after the President took office, long after the FBI investigation into Manafort was publicly known, the sources told CNN. They went on until lawyers for the President and Manafort insisted that they stop, according to the sources.

So, that means conversations between Trump and Manafort may have been recorded if they took place over landline telephones. But were Manafort's cell phones "tapped" also?

If Mueller has these conversations, they likely are not the smoking gun he's looking for. PPs are correct he's building tax evasion/money laundering charges to get Manafort to flip.

Does anyone know who's paying Manafort's defense? His legal costs must be substantial. The Russians? The Mercers?

Meanwhile the FISA warrant on Manafort expired last year and Obama (via Lynch) renewed it after Trump won the election. So the wiretap of Trump Tower is true!
