Correct. I think initially they were after Manafort because he knew where the money was that the Russian and Ukrainian oligarchs had stolen from The people of Ukraine. Here's some background as to what the US and its allies were trying to do in 2014:

OK.

So why is Trump saying that it was directed at the campaign?

Seriously? Do you remember the campaign at all? Do you remember reading anything written about Donald in the last decade? It pretty much was him accusing people of crap and serially lying, once famously contradicting himself within a sentence. He's saying it was directed at the campaign, but it wasn't. He's a small man who stirs the pot for any and no reason at all.

And if it means his supporters are then inoculated against what they learn via these absolutely legal taps? That's his goal, isn't it?

You guys always link to the saddest, most low-rent publications imaginable. It's hilarious!

Manafort was subject to a no-knock warrant. He's fcked. But legitimately fcked.

Speaking of saddest, most low-rent publications - do you recall the CNN analyst who dubbed the nothingburger on the Russian hack?

So incredibly stupid, you. You mean Van Jones and hey, guess what, nitwit? He was trying to be cute months on air, and wasn't privy to the subsequent months of investigations, open and closed door sessions, interviews, reports, warrants served to prevent spoliation...

I thought he was secretly taped calling Russia a nothingburger.

Wasn’t it the liberal Chris Matthews who said something like, “Pay attention to what politicians say when they think nobody’s listening?"

Didn't somebody said "what are you worried about if you have nothing to hide" during the campaign about somebody's email? So what is Manafort hiding?

What are all the Republicans hiding? Why do Nunes, Goodlatte and McConnell, among others, do so much to block or hinder investigations?
