Just ran into McAuliffe in person in Alexandria 30 minutes ago. Glad he nipped this in the bud.

Why wasn't he in Charlottesville since this thing started last night?

And why isn't Trump in Guam? Instead he's on about the 17th hole now.

CVille needs to act quickly and take these statues down now to remove the flashpoints.

Yes, tear down that history! The past must be censored!

Nobody is proposing censorship. What a dumb statement. There is no need to honor and celebrate the dark parts of our history.

Tantamount to book burning. Enjoy the bonfire.

Sure it is. I bet you really hate that the park is now called Emancipation Park and no longer Lee Park. Censorship. LULZ.

Are they actually destroying the statues or moving them somewhere like a museum where they might be viewed in context?

Who was emancipated there? Why was it named that?

I am from the West and do not understand the obsession with the Civil War. It is just an excuse for racism. The South lost! They get no monuments to their loss. They're on the wrong side of history!

Anonymous wrote:"F you, faggots" is what these fine members of the Trump coalition are chanting now to the counter protestors. Trump must forcefully condemn this demonstration, but he's proabaly on the 15th hole about right now.

Why should the President condemn free speech?

He wouldn't be condemning free speech, dearie, he'd be condemning the sentiment behind the far-right white nationalist message of the marchers.

Why? Why should the President condemn anyone's views?

"Dearie" - fascinating word choice.

What nonsense are you spouting? Presidents and politicians and resident DCUM posters condemn opposing views all the time. Name me a single president who never condemned views he felt were antithetical to the American way of life.

David Duke showed up in Charlottesville today telling the media that the rally "fulfills the promises of Trump."

You would think a president would comment when a state has declared a state of emergency. I guess he's too busy with his vacation

Protestor chanting "Heil Trump." But heritage, not hate, right?

Where the hell are Trump and Sessions speaking out to unify and defuse this situation? Not surprised at the deafening silence.

I can do this alll day. Why wasn't O'Malley in Baltimore instead of at the WHCD then in England before his paid speech? How did that decision work out for him when he returned to the streets of Baltimore?
