Very few of us aren't fake ass bitches.

Myself, I'm Mediterranean. Can't change my DNA prone to massive hirsuteness, but damn well better believe I'll try and remove what I can to be a happier person, while harming absolutely no one in the process.

That's fine, but you probably don't expect people to believe you no longer have a Mediterranean background.

Really, this isn't difficult.

I've never heard a transgender person ask people to deny their past, or even DNA. Just to acknowledge who they choose to be. Sorry it affects you so much?

Would PP say "I'm no longer Mediterranean?" Because Bruce Jenner is saying "I'm no longer a man." Wow, this is so simple!

No, I'd say despite being born Mediterranean and hairy, I'm going forward with trying to be not hairy.

Just like a transgender person might say "despite being born male, I'm going forward with trying to be a woman."

Do you really not know the difference between gender and sex? It's really very simple, actually.

Seriously, why on earth do you hold such strong opinions on this? Why does how someone defines themselves, affect you?

Because when one person can convince a host of other people to believe something that is clearly the direct opposite of reality, we have a very large societal problem.

What "societal problem?" Can you explain that, and how it personally affects you?

Because if you will buy this, you will buy anything. And if "society" is currently so dumbed down that it will accept whatever anyone says as "reality" -- despite concrete evidence to the contrary (e.g. the existence of a penis means the human being is a male), then we are on a dangerous path where we can literally be swayed by anyone to believe anything.
Oh yeah, Bruce Jenner decides to be a woman and we are facing the apocalypse.

Ha! Exactly. I can't wrap my brain around why this PP is so threatened. Who cares, PP. Move on. It's done, your life will remain the same. I think it's pretty clear that it won't affect you personally because you aren't transitioning nor would you ever have a trans friend, so file it under "things that ultimately don't impact me AT ALL" and just move on with your life.

I think it's becoming very clear to me that your position is based on ignorance. I don't mean that as an insult, but you seem to only see sex as it pertains to genitals (most of us are xx or xy, but there are other chromosomal variations, and ditto with regards to genital development), and entirely unaware of the difference between gender and sex (ie, male vs man, female vs. woman, etc). There's clearly an informational deficit that's basing your misinformed position.

Well how interesting! It's becoming equally clear to me that your position is based on nothing more than PC psychobabble. And of course I don't mean that as an insult either. You're just very, very gullible. Bless your heart.

Wow. What a completely incomparably rude, classless response.

Oh, please.... this is DCUM. Grow up.

My mistake, I wasn't aware of accepted exceptions to basic civility (and how civility is apparently the antithesis to maturity).

No, you would get them treatment, not celebrate their body dysmorphic disorder.

We'll see how many people here can intelligently approach this, and not just say "bigot," "shut up", or similar things.

Apples and oranges. A person suffering from an eating disorder has an illness. A transgender person does not.

Yes, they do.

^^ Yes!

Also, would the K girls now refer to him as their mother? Or still their father? Or something made up, like Mofa (combo of mom and dad)
Anonymous
(Mom and father)

Or Moda!

I think the person depicted in the photo looks great but I also think Caitlyn looks quite a bit different in real life. I feel like it's all disingenuous with the amount of photo-shopping they did.

Jenner was reportedly considering spelling her name with the letter “k,” like all the other women in the Kardashian-Jenner clan, but has opted for a more traditional spelling of Caitlyn.

The former Olympian will receive the Arthur Ashe Courage Award as ABC’s EPSY Awards on July 15, ESPN announced Monday.

Jenner first publicly revealed that she was transitioning into a woman in a “20/20? interview with Diane Sawyer.

“For all intents and purposes, I am a woman,” Jenner said in April.

Then why didn't she just use the actual traditional spelling, which is Caitlin?

Am I the only one that just thinks this shows how much plastic surgery is going to give so many people the same face? Caitlyn looks like Jessica Lange and many other overly-stretched people of a certain age...terrifying!

Why is the award being given? Because of this?

A courage award?? May I suggest instead our military? Or the girls who escaped the hell house in Ohio?

Holy Photoshop, Batman!!!

1. Good for her. You go, Caitlin!! I hope this lifts up transgendered people who feel disenfranchised.
2. I love the photos if for no other reason, that they are giving all the hypocrites on Fox News and elsewhere, aneurysms. Keep on being judgy y'all.

This really annoys me. I'm happy for Caitlyn, but the ridiculous photo shopping coupled with the sexy outfit make me feel like Caitlyn is as much of a media whore without morals as the Kardashians.

I'm looking forward to paparazzi pics to see what Caitlyn really looks like. If she dresses like the rest of the family, then I'll lose respect for her. If I don't respect Kim, why should I respect Caitlyn?

This is an award for athletes. She was an athlete, the others you mentioned were not.
