Got chatted up by Ben Stein in line at the Watergate Safeway in my early 30's. I figured he was hassled all the time so I didn't engage more than friendly chit-chat, which clearly bothered him. He said, "you do know I'm a TV star, of some note, right?" It was hilarious. He then tried to arrange a hook-up. I asked if he was married. He said yes. Ick.

I'm a physician who used to do concierge medicine; most of my patients/clients were diplomats/politicians but I saw a few singers who came to the DC area to perform. Elvis Costello was a true gentleman (and I was dying to meet his wife but she was away, lol). I didn't get the call for the guys from Van Halen but my colleague said they all wanted to be "treated" for a hangover. And one of my patients, a young female pop star who used to be constantly in the media for her dramatic personal life, was tiny in person. Made me sad bc the media always called her out for being fat, which she totally wasn't. I was very nervous and her dad made me feel right at home.

I'm related to Rick Linklater and have met Ethan Hawke a few times while visiting family in Austin. I would love to move from DC to Austin, it's such a cool town.

I met a woman tonight at DD's soccer practice (I think she's a new neighbor to one of the families on the team) and within 10 minutes of the conversation she mentioned both of her famous BILs and another relative's importance.

I have a good friend whose FIL is a famous musician and NEVER heard her mention who he was (although it was easy to figure out if you googled her husband) until a year or so after I met her.
