This year's Magnet Program is now only 2 days away. I'm a bit worried.

I hear you. However, the last day is not for intense prep. It is for making them feel rested and removing their stress and anxiety. Ask yourself what is the worst thing that can happen if they do not get in? How bad would it be if they got their education from their home MS? It is not a failure if they do not get in, sometimes it can be a catalyst to future success. Luck plays a role as well.

Remember, your kid is bright and hardworking. However this turns out - this is just the beginning and your kid will always be a success.

God luck.

One thing I recall from test day a few years ago was that the parking lot at TPMS was a zoo. I presume it's the same at Clemente. That can add unnecessary stress to everyone's morning. My advice: get their early, give your child a relaxed entry. And after it's over, go celebrate. Good luck!

ridiculous

These magnets are about you, not your kids.

Admit it.

My kid's testing - only b/c her teachers encouraged her to do so. We haven't even looked at the testing packet with the sample questions.

Let your kids be kids.

At least our kids don't have a hypocritical parent! Don't worry your D has zero chance of getting in.

Yes, parking at Clemente is a zoo. I agree with the advice to go early and arrive relaxed.

There is no way that you can possibly know that. (Not the PP.) I think it's helpful to look at the sample questions, but it's certainly not necessary.

Your child should have applied bc she wanted to. Sounds like its about you and her teacher.

OMG! Your poor child. You have a Tiger Teacher who is pushing your child. Shame on you for not looking out for your child's interest. Please let your child be a child. I would ask you to report this teacher to the school.

Don't let a neurotic teacher turn your kid into a lunatic. What will be next?

DS took test today. Just finished Raven and Math. Had a little review time for reading. Was shocked at the number of kids. Seemed like 1,000 but announcement said 645. Now he just has to wait.

OK. So the test is over. I have no idea of how my kid did. I hope it went well. I was mentally and physically exhausted and all I did was nap on this rainy and gray day.

Looking at the faces of all these children and parents I was struck anew that if the standards of education was high for each school then I would not have had to be part of this madness.

There is something so messed up in the whole system, if the curriculum and teaching does not challenge each and every kid in entire MCPS to their abilities and needs.

Could he complete the essay?

And you've just helped to support my point.

thanks
