Um, what sort of firearms are "military grade" weapons? You're fear mongering and spewing forth lies and half truths.
|
Well, the weapon (a semi-autiomatic rifle used by soldiers in Afghanistan) that he used to slaughter 26 innocent people, for one. |
So in other words, nothing that would have prevented this guy from buying whatever he wanted. |
|
What, exactly, happens during a "background check"? Just criminal records?
Maybe an in-person psychiatric evaluation for aspiring gun slingers would be more appropriate-- which would no doubt cost a lot of money... which would further discourage gun totin'. |
| It's a small mercy that he killed his mother. Would you want to live knowing that your guns that you had to have because of your idiotic hobby were used by your mentally ill son to kill so many little children? Who would want to live with that? Besides her house and financial assets, she probably had life insurance. If the Lanza family has any sense, they will give every dime to the families of the victims. |
I imagine the mother, if she had lived, would have suffered terribly for the rest of her life. That said, what an odd dismissal of someone's right to live. Maybe she would have wanted to live. Maybe she could have accomplished good things with the rest of her life. Maybe there are people - such as her other son, her friends and relatives - who love her and needed her to live. |
So, you're making up your own definitions to suit your point of view. Ok, I understand now.
|
No, you pathetic ignoramus, I am just repeating what the first responders and investigators have reported. |
No, in other words, you were either wrong (labeled by some as ignorant) or being dishonest (called by some a LIE) in your post. So, are you ignorant or a liar? Additionally, he couldn't have purchased a handgun until he was 21 (and met the other requirements of course); http://www.cga.ct.gov/2009/pub/chap529.htm#Sec29-34.htm. There are some reports that he tried to purchase long guns from Dick's Sporting Goods and was denied but law enforcement hasn't verified that yet. Still, he would've had to go through the checks that both CT and the feds require regardless of if he purchased locally or online. Online dealers are not exempt from the same transfer requirements as local dealers. |

2:30 Study gun culture. Military grade weapons are a very real thing. The NRA and gun manufacturers promote weapons as being the closest thing to a military weapon that a civilian can own. It's not hype or fear mongering by a PP. This is straight from the NRA.
Check out the copy that accompanies this NRA Gun of the Week: http://www.americanrifleman.org/blogs/fn-scar-17s-gotw/ |
And you are as wrong as those that reported it. "Ignoramus"? Really?
|
+1 PP, it was a military assault rifle and nothing you say can change that, are a typical right wing fact denier? |
It involves an FBI records check. If you google NICS it should have more about it. (Not trying to give a non-answer, just want the information to be accurate) Why would an American want to "further discourage gun totin'"? The fact that the school was a "gun free zone", aka "criminal protection zone", probably added to the number of victims. Where I live, we all carry and crime is extremely low. Cowards like that shooter almost always choose soft targets as victims. |
Agreed. Thank goodness the system worked.
|
Anyone that actually served in the military knows the differences. An assault rifle is NOT semi-automatic. Again with the insults. Sad that you can't actually make a valid argument for your position. Oh wait, this is the "DC" "URBAN" "MOM" forum... that might explain things. buh-bye! |
