My children only wear Janie and Jack

Anonymous
I used to buy only J and J for my child, because I love that classic look. Once my dd turned 4, she started picking out her own clothes, and now we only buy clothes from Target, because they are the only clothes she"ll wear. Enjoy "dressing" your kids up now, because you probably won't be able to do it too much longer.

This! Both my kids were fun to dress but now at 3 and 5 pick out their own clothes. I narrow things down and rule out some items, like Crocs or athletic shorts for my son. This whole thread will be moot for OP in a short couple of years.

Thank you DCUM for the laughs. I have made it through 9 pages. That Gucci parka post had me crying from laughing so hard.

I couldn't make it thru 9 pages. Best of luck to OP as the kids grow up.

Me, neither.

OP, you're projecting. If you think ANYONE cares what labels your children have on, you're wrong. Maybe, in your home country people do pay too much attention to labels (in a number of Asian countries it is the case), but here it is considered poor taste.

You're free to dress your children any way you please, but, for Christ's sake, don't make such a big deal out of it!

Yeah, really. what exactly looks undecent about them? Maybe you need a new washer. It it doesn't have holes or large stains, I think it looks pretty decent.

But I would never dress my kid in the outfit OP posted except maybe for pictures once a year. Those are not comfortable materials. I might say "oh, how cute!" but inwardly I wonder what she was thinking to make the poor kid wear that.

My kids like soft jersey and elastic, so shoot me. I'll be the one in athletic shorts and a comfy tank top. I practice what I preach.

OP here. Excuse me, those outfits are 100% cotton. I'm allergic to synthetic material so we all only wear cotton. And I cut the tags off of their clothes and mine. I don't like the tags either. We do have a few outfits from Carter's - their regular line and the cheaper ones they make for target and walmart. I'm sorry but I wash it all together and JJ comes out of the dryer like new, Carter's kind of but the T and W ones don't.

I thought you were big on reselling your kids' outgrown clothes, OP - no tags is usually a big no for consigning!

And I agree with the poster that is confused at the posts dissing 'expensive' brands, but those same parents would buy expensive organic food and products, frickin $5,000 Cartier watch and a Starbuck's latte everyday.

While I agree that no one should be rude or "dis" brands that other people buy for their children, the basic concept that people may have different ideas about which items are worth spending a premium on doesn't seem too complicated or confusing to me. To some people, organic food seems worth the value of spending more money on, and designer children's clothing does not.

Silly people still posting

Anyone who thinks a shirt saying "Daddy's Little Monkey" is low-class (which, obviously, OP was implying), should really meet my kids. All boys and all monkeys. Those type of shirts are cute! They're even cuter when you can guiltlessly throw them in the trash when they have grass stains, blood, and chocolate on them.

Dress your kid in whatever you want. Spend as much money as you want to in order to do it. But don't think you're a *better* or more stylish parent just because you don't buy your kid's clothes at Target.

And that statement is just not correct. As on of the Target aficianados I wear a Timex, rarely buy organic and get my coffee at Sam's. I try not to waste money in other areas of my life as well.

9:15 you either go to Landon or will go to Landon. Good luck. You won't need luck for being financially successful but you may need luck for being a decent human being. Or staying out of jail.

WTF, 9:21? 9:15's post was totally innocuous. You must not have little boys.
Anonymous
Exactly ... I have college-aged boys who went to DC private school.

(Yes, this is a snark about the misplaced only, but since we are beating her up about not shopping at Boutique Tarjay, might as well pile on about grammar. That seems to be on the right level for the original post and the many responses.)

While I think that wearing only J&J is stupid, I think making fun of someone on the internet about grammar - is just low. As someone else who is ESL, I'd be happy to discuss this with you in French if you'd like.

How many languages do YOU speak? One? I speak three - so let me know which one you'd like to discuss this in.
