No. I live near the county line and there's no significant difference, except to incessant APS boosters, between the Arlington and McLean neighborhoods that straddle the line or, for that matter, between McLean and Yorktown HS. |
| Yorktown has more whites and Hispanics than McLean, and not as many Asians. So perhaps Asians aren't "our people" for the down-to-earth (sic) North Arlington types. |
| Asians are drawn to Fairfax County primarily because of TJ, even though Arlington participates. Practically no affluent Asians live in Arlington except for the small middle class Mongolian minority in the central part of N Arlington near Science Focus. |
STFU. I personally know at least 5 law firm partners that are asians that live in Arlington for the same reason why everyone wants to. It is a short commute to their DC office. Try opening your eyes you moron. |
Harsh! Of course, there are Asians in Arlington. Just not as many as in Fairfax or Loudoun. BTW, "everyone" doesn't want to live in Arlington. |
haha! so sensitive. I thought this forum was about helping and informing people. The PP was just trying to be informative. when people spaz though it is funny. |
|
Arne Duncan!
Lyon Village! ASF!! Let's not let 30 minutes pass without mentioning them. |
The PP is also racist. Yorktown H.S. is 9% asian and W&L is 13% asian. According to the the PP it must be a whole lot of Mongolians and poor asians. |
| Yorktown isn't 9% Asian. Get your facts straight. |
Seriously. I highly doubt anyone on this forum is racist although there are plenty of overly sensitive people on this forum. Those with information on Arlington, a county that prides itself on its diversity, are hardly racist, and stating observations, accurate or not, does not make a person racist. If there is a significant number affluent Asians in Arlington that support the public schools then great! I personally would like to see Chinese and French immersion programs implemented in one of the new elementary schools that planned for the northern part of the county. |
Your comments or should I say, opinions on this matter is completely baseless and out of touch with reality that most folks will consider them irrelevant. Your decision to NOT address said private schools by name and the careful way your words are chosen, leads me to believe that you are afraid of criticisms by the masses. My educated guess is that you are an attorney or someone in the legal profession, trying to avoid any repercussions from “said [anonymous] schools.” I suspect that there is more to the story (THE TRUTH) than you are willing to admit. I consider your comments ridiculous at best to the point of being absurd. Now, I give you the chance to redeem yourself and tell us the “whole truth and nothing but the truth so help you God.” |
Since when is it a virtue to live amongst thugs and drug dealers? The elitist label hardly applies to someone who want to send their DC to a school free from such "diversity." |
Not the other poster, but I appreciated her opinions. Success stories involving the Alexandria schools are more than welcome here. Frankly, you sound like one of the handful of truly obnoxious North Arlington posters who trash Alexandria constantly and can't go a day or two without mentioning the latest Challenge Index. We've heard it all before. |
Stop being such a pussy. There are thugs and drug dealers at every school. You know what the means for anyone not interested in that life? Virtually nothing. Just another example of the "fear and loathing" that grips many in suburbia. It's gonna be alright, hon. |
Looking at the rate at which students in DCPS elementary schools exit DCPS before they hit middle or high school, it's safe to say such concerns are not unique to suburbia, hon. |
