| Area is dying, wouldn't be surprised if reston exceeds gf |
Lol, wuht?? |
+1 No kidding. This poster needs to let it go. LOL. There will always be buyers for Great Falls, like it or not. Stop the frequent repetitive posts, already. Get your OCD checked! |
That one poster is really odd-10 bedroom houses??? GF is near Reston and some kids in Reston go to school in GF's. Some kids in GF's go to school in Vienna. Some of GF's you really don't know if you're in Mclean or Herndon. Yes there's the 1 safeway but many people live closer to Reston and Herndon etc and the Giants, Harris Teeter etc. So there's Giants, Safeway, Whole foods, harristeeter, trader joe's. |
Many buyers are skipping out on gf for McLean closer in. 22101 over took great falls as great falls prices are free falling. |
We know how you feel. It does not mean other people feel that way. Get over it. |
This. Personally, while my address is officially a Great Falls address I feel a lot more like a resident of Reston than a resident of Great Falls. The Reston Town Center and the Great Falls village are more less equidistant from my house. That means that a lot of grocery stores in Reston, such as Giant, Harris Teeter, and Trader Joe's are closer to me than the Great Falls Safeway. I commute on metro using the Reston station, I usually eat out in Reston and not Great Falls, and in general I frequent Reston's businesses a lot more than Great Falls'. So Reston feels a lot more like home to me. All this without having to deal with Reston's HOA, and well, my house is zoned for Langley, which some people will see as a good thing and some as a bad thing. |

22101 has surpassed great falls as the most expensive zip code https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/local/2016-real-estate/#&zip=22101 |

I just bought a home in Great Falls 6 months ago and love it. I think Virginians in general like to over exaggerate the traffic and weather. People are nice here and the neighborhood is safe and quiet and central to everything.
If Los Gatos Ca had a baby with Rancho Santa Fe, San Diego....it would look like Great Falls..

Thanks for proving PPs point. You PP should read "Many buyers skipping neighbors like this to live in peace and quiet, in Great Falls". |
| The thread was started back in 2011. Since then, the Great Falls market has picked up, but it’s now less expensive than both McLean and much of North Arlington. The posters who said Great Falls was generally becoming less appealing to buyers were spot on. That doesn’t mean it’s not a great place for some people - you just need to do your homework. |
| We bought a house in Great Falls a yr ago in 22066. I work in Reston and my wife works in Herndon. It takes me 8 mins to get to work and takes my wife 15 mins. Tysons Mall is 15 mins, Sterling Costco is 12 mins and Reston Town Center is 10 mins from us. We have over 1 acre and love the peace and quiet. Also there are quite a few families with kids under 10 yrs in our neighborhood. We initially tried to buy a house in McLean but got into bidding wars. We are glad we bought a house in GF since we got more bang for the buck than McLean and also our commute to work from McLean would have been longer. Also houses for 1.2M in McLean are close to each other and they are smaller. I guess being closer to work does not hurt and also our kids will be going to Cooper and Langley. |
