Well, because People's Republic of Maryland isn't for everyone. Keep your high taxes and schools-getting-ruined to yourselves.

Yes, and FCPS is thriving. Do they put something in the water that people cannot see how much FCPS has degraded even in the last 10 years?

SATs in FCPS are up and there were a record number of NMSFs last year. Meanwhile SATs in MCPS dropped over 25 points last year and Starr was forced out. Meanwhile APS has no clue where kids will go to school in five years. FCPS looks very good these days.
This. This. This! Even after that budget debacle, I'd still take FCPS any day.

I am as liberal as the next guy, but I would never move back to MoCo or Maryland generally. Its not the high taxes, but how the taxes are allocated. The high income areas of Maryland subsidize the rest of MD, and literally ever few years the tax rates increase while others are staying stagnant. And if you try and object, your racist.

Every year there are articles about the best and worst states for taxes and MD is always one of the worst states.

Kind of like Fairfax County?

What does this mean? Please elaborate.

Fairfax County is way too big to be properly managed.

And this OP is from 2011. Is this akin to having the monthly Great Falls vs. McLean posts? Because this is getting old quick.

Not the PP, but he/she was probably saying that Great Falls is less expensive west of Walker Road, plus it's a longer slog to the MS/HS, Tysons and DC. Hence, "Great Falls" gets downgraded to "Good Falls."

We live in McLean a mile or so outside the beltway between downtown McLean and great falls. Closer to downtown McLean though. It's the best of both worlds there. Trees, privacy, parks, nice houses and big lots but also just a 40 min commute downtown on I66 during rush hour (we qualify for HOV). The drive home is about 25 mins.

Then why are you a liberal? You sound like a reasonable and rational person otherwise.

My experience of GF is sitting in an endless line of really expensive cars on a two lane road.

Mine, too!

yep, five years later and this post still sums it up.

I just LOVE when four years old posts are reopened by McLean people. LOL.

Don't you worry your pretty little head about what Great Falls people are doing in their big, new beautiful expensive homes with five acres, swimming pools, tennis courts, and basketball courts. The Great Falls people certainly don't care what you are doing.

Do you know how paranoid this makes you sound? You might want to come out of your bunker every now and then.

I know, OP sounds really paranoid. A new Great Falls thread is started every month. LOL.

But that part of town is VERY pricey. 22102 is way too expensive for most of us.
