It's actually a pretty good magazine.

DH gets this and I read it. It’s good!

At best, it's propaganda.

Propaganda for what? For getting older? I get their magazine too, and while not every issue has something I want to read, often there are interesting articles.

I have a new one. I recently passed a sign for a business that said "Est. in 1973"

In my mind, I found it weird that a business would highlight that given it was so recent. Then I realized.... damn... they've been around over half a century!

Congrats, you linked to a semi-sarcastic article. There are lots of other articles about how to avoid financial and tech scams, retirement saving, various health issues, and yes, interviews with George Clooney. It's not my go-to mag, but calling it "propaganda for boomers" is just dumb millennial BS.

Lol, you're the same age as me. Yes, the 80s were magical. I was in high school. Many of my friends have kids born 1994 onwards.

Not only am I an older mom I am old enough to be my daughter’s grandmother. That smarts.

55 with an 11 yo-it's something, isn't it LOL!

Just last night at the playground, I was thinking, these other parents look so young. They are, and I'm not haha. I have grown married kids also, but no grandchildren yet-but I really want them! In the meanwhile, I have so enjoyed raising my youngest.

Also, I have been at my employer for just over 25 years and most of the new hires are around that age or younger. I love their energy. I'm kind of the mother hen to everyone especially about safety in our job.

Why do younger people think everyone older than them is a boomer?

In my case, they are. My parents were Silent Generation.

When I babysat last night for a 7 year old, and he asked me what computer games I had when I was his age…. I told him they weren’t around when I was 7. I’m 73..

A checkout clerk at the Nike store yesterday asked me to explain how my landline "worked". I assumed he meant billing and said it was part of my cable and internet bill. Heck he may not know what cable is.

Anonymous wrote:Sometimes DCUM makes me feel old. I suspect there are many here who, like me, came to DCUM in the school years, stayed for the college forum, and now occasionally dip into the Elder Care and Family fora. But also, I'm no longer invested in my kids' private vs. public schools, or their colleges, our kids would need to be real losers if their moms are helping them get into grad school, and the remaining candidate forums like "Religion" are infested with atheist trolls while the family forum is infested with people who hate their parents/children, so why bother. Which is why--being old--I now come here maybe once a month and end up on fora like this one.

This is one of the most poignant responses.
