Do you have a bumper sticker/sweatshirt/etc of where your DC goes to college?

My dad proudly wore a sweatshirt from my and my sibling’s schools, and they still have coffee mugs from our alma maters. DH and I both have tshirts and ballcaps from her current HS that we wear to sporting events to support her and her teams.

DD isn’t looking at Ivy+ where gear would feel like a flex, so absolutely as a family we will share in that excitement. I already know her grandpa will as well.

YMMV

That is so stupid. Why can’t a kid at an Ivy be proud and have school spirit? It reminds me of TJ HS that couldn’t announce national merit scholars because it might make the snowflakes feel bad about themselves.

Gen Z is more humble than Gen X. My Gen Z DS said we can't wear Harvard gear because it's too embarrasing.

I have a sweatshirt for the college sports team he is a member of, so I can wear it to games. I don’t tend to wear it otherwise.

Otherwise, for target or such, I’d wear an xyz “Mom” sweatshirt or something.

I’ve had the same concern as my DS got into one his top reaches on the East Coast.

Not sure it is the best way to make a good first impression.

Who gives a fk? If my kid gets into CNU or an Ivy, if they want to put a car magnet on the car I’m all for it. We share all the cars. My husband and I WAH and we live in a very walkable neighborhood do only really drive trips. The kids use the cars.

I didn't put it on my car until they graduated because I wasn't quite sure they would graduate from there.

From 1 school I have a few shirts/sweats/sweatshirts because they were my Xmas and Mother's day gifts the 1st few years.

From the other school my son was an athlete and he got so much merch every.single.year that I bogarted some of it. The parka they received is the warmest thing I have ever worn (it's a thing, these kids on the sideline get the best jackets)... but he got one each year so I kept one.

OTOH my H is a guest speaker at lots of colleges and he get a tshirt each time as a gift for speaking... so I have a tshirt from Princeton, U of Texas, Duke, Bucknell... eventually he told them he would rather have a hat so we have hat from about 20 different colleges.

It’s someone who is embarrassed of where their kid ended up.

I think they just get jealous of the other kids. It's like people who can't do social media.

Our favs are Wash U baseball hats (kid did not apply) that we got free for visiting and huge warm Pitt sweatshirt (kid did not attend but loved the school when visiting.
Bumper stickers for sure - way to show our pride in kid accomplishments

Sucks to be you!

I’m the oldest of 6 kids. Growing up, we had a VW Rabbit with all of our college stickers on the back window. Some of us transferred, so there were a lot of stickers. When it finally died, my dad asked for the glass to be removed. It became a table top for a coffee table on the porch. It still fills my parents (alive and happy) with pride. And it’s a great conversation piece.

LOVE THIS!!!!

I find it weird that people are so angsty about college sweatshirts. I’m from FL, and people there make supporting their U their entire personality. Cars, RVs, entire rooms in school colors. Now that’s a choice. Wearing a college sweatshirt is nbd.
