Just wondering again why you're okay then with them being around the kids who were bullied? |
It’s w supportive program, meaning there are intense supports and extensive supervision when needed |
All those supports/supervision would transfer with the program to the Career Center. So what's the issue for you? |
Career center is a large school that has students from all the high schools coming and going all day, it’s not the same. |
But how is that relevant? Same question. The supports transfer so what difference does that make? This really boils down to you don't want those "bad" kids with your kid. Just admit it. |
No, I don’t because I don’t think the supports will transfer well into a large building. I’m basing this off years of working in special education |
How do you know "the supports" are even working now? I could see an argument for keeping juvenile offenders in their own building separate from all other students. What I don't get is how you are okay with the juvies around OTHER kids who were bullied and vulnerable but not okay with them being around your OWN kid? |
No AT parents are saying that. You are saying that AT parents are saying that. Engage the facts. |
This poster has provided no facts that the Langston people have ankle bracelets. I met saw a young woman at Overlee with an ankle bracelet a few summers and was at Yorktown. So tell me more about these kids. Please use cited facts this time. |
The ankle bracelets might be more metaphorical: “Students who are recommended to the program by The School Climate and Culture Department may have court supervision and may have a probation officer or other court appointment personnel. Students who may have experienced difficulty in the school and/or in the community.” https://hsc.apsva.us/about-langston-hsc/history-of-hsc-in-arlington/ |
If it's not AT parents, then WHO exactly is objecting to those kids coming over to the Career Center? Identify yourself! Where do your kids go to school now? |
I am asking questions. I didn't say it was AT parents, but if it's not, then who is it? And why? |
Probably the APE bullies who don’t even have kids in APS. |
Prospective AT parents at Swanson here, we are unhappy. We were considering it for our DD, but it seems like they are moving in a less academic direction and mixed populations are a consideration too. 22 year old men roaming halls with 14 year old girls? In this day and age, that isn’t great. |
How so? |
