NP, but she's really most well known for Little House on the Prairie, a show that ended in 1984. I think the only thing I've seen her in was as Sheridan's wife on Babylon 5, and I'm in my 40s. She's not really that famous anymore. I definitely more familiar with him, although I wouldn't have known his name. |
I'm 45 and I never watched Little House on the prairie, but I think knowing who Melissa Gilbert is is part of cultural literacy. |
+1. Looking her up, I guess Little House on the Prairie is why some people know her. I'm in the age demographic for that, but never watched it. |

New development, ugh. Half Pint needs to dump his @ss.

Yep. All these people doubting children are sick. Don’t forget he settled with a 17 year old years ago. |
They're not doubting the children, they're doubting the parents. I didn't think it was clear-cut at first, but now agree it's very likely he's a predator. |
One of the children had bed wetting episodes, bad dreams and PTSD and his therapist diagnosed him. You think the parents, therapist and the dr at the New Mexico hospital all colluded and coached the child?? Ridiculous. Numerous on set assistants saw a change in this child’s behavior on set as well - he became withdrawn and no longer enjoyed being on the show. It was completely obvious that this guy was a predator. He had the time alone with the kids and gave the family presents. Sickening. Oh, there was a 28 year old accuser - ahe said Busfield put his hands on her pants at a movie theater and Busfield said it was “consensual.” BS. Why the hell did Melissa stay with this creep after that?? |
This should be “in” |
She may not have known or Busfield may have told her she came on to him? Predators are extremely skilled at dissimulating. If he's gotten away with such behavior for a long time, suggests that is the case. |
| If you don’t know who we are talking about, stop reading and look it up. There is no need to express your lack of awareness. And if this matter is not of interest to you, just stop reading altogether. |
I doubt it; probably a great many folks born since 1990 don’t know who she is. Those of us who were alive in the 70s/80s know her and most people would know of her even if they didn’t watch her on Little House. In those days there weren’t many channels and Little House was must see TV for most households with children. |
Former prosecutor of child sex abuse crimes and no, that’s just not true. (As an aside it’s also not true in most adult rape cases, either.) The crimes alleged by the boys wouldn’t leave any physical evidence, especially since they weren’t immediately disclosed. There would be nothing for a pediatrician to find. One of the reasons that sexual assault cases across the board have the lowest conviction rates of any kinds of crimes - and so very few even get charged and even fewer ever go into a courtroom - is because there is rarely forensic evidence, it is far more often just the testimony of the victim and perhaps someone to whom the victim disclosed and other circumstantial evidence. And juries bring a lot of cultural bias to these cases, which it is very hard to weed out in voir dire. |
This is a function of age. How old are you? |
Yes., |
What do you make that in 2024 they denied allegations and were interviewed and examined and a year later one child does. Is this common or this is now problematic getting a conviction? This just seems awful for the kids. Since they were on a TV show they are easily identifiable. Why didn't they try to do a better job hiding their identities or blacking out parents names? |
