Two Jews (Peter Beinart and Jon Stewart) discuss Israel

Many many Jews have already woken up to this. I can only speak for my circle, but it's been a few years now that the view of Netanyahu has seriously deteroirated because he refuses to give up power. He needs to be gone for Israel to have a chance. He is actively making things worse and making people hate Jews (more than they already do!). He's not good for Israel, he's not good for Jews, he's definitely not good for Palestine. He's a power hungry monster. All he cares about is power. He even just stated that his priority is no longer the hostages. It's taking over, at any cost.

Just because you are Jewish does not mean you cannot feel compassion for the tens of thousands of people who's blood is on his hands.

I thought Israel was a democracy. “The only democracy in the Middle East.”

Why is it now, “Netanyahu this and Netanyahu that.”

What happened to the democracy?

Israel was never a democracy. When you allow privileges to some but not others, that's not a democracy. We've been told a LOT of lies about Israel.

Admittedly, I am not a Jew, but how in the world is it hard to come to terms with starving and murdering 20,000 children?????

The movement of Reform Judaism relaxed the strict rules of the religion to make it more harmounious with modern life.

Reform leaders also embraced Zionism and unequivocal support for Israel including immigration, study and cultural engagement. Many say Zionism replaced religious practice with state veneration.

Is it technically a democracy? Sure, maybe. They vote. Are elections fair and balanced? Less maybe. Netanyahu has grabbed onto power and refuses to let go. He's been indicted on bribery and fraud. This started in 2018. It's 2025 and still ongoing. He's tried to change legislation that would put the judiciary under his purview. How convenient when he's being charged with corruption.

Sound familiar to any other political leaders you know? No wonder they stick together.

Ok you have spoken. Everyone with a mouth can utter something. What are we supposed to do with this? This isn't facts or information, just a perspective. There are billions of perspectives in the world about everything.

Nope - it's a fact. Israel has different rules for different people. It's widely known, and not an opinion.

Having different rules for different people is different than what you said earlier, so two different topics at hand now.

Countries having different rules for different people--many sure do. Such as Saudi Arabia

When you allow privileges to some but not others, that's not a democracy.--Logical fallacy here. The definition of the word democracy isn't "place in which all have same privileges".

Yes, you are emotional about this topic. But emotion isn't power, meaning your emotion controls what I must think. Also, your emotion, even if so so strong, can't overpower logic.

DP, but the question was if Israel is a democracy, and that pp stated why they think it isnt. You comparing them to Saudi Arabia does not negate that. It sounds like you are agreeing with pp.

You're 1000% correct - Israel is much more like Saudi Arabia, than a democracy.

Former Israeli soldier testified to Israeli Knesset that on October 7th 2023, the day of the Hamas attacks, troops were unexpectedly ordered to cancel all border patrols and stand down between 5:20 am and 9:00 a.m.

Several IDF soldiers have come out saying they needed answers on why their brigades were told stand down on the most heavily gaurded border in the world on the day of the Oct. 7th attack. Michael Flynn appeared on Steve Bannon's show and commented on the investigation of why the IDF was told to stand down and its slow response while the attack was occuring.

Prior to Oct. 7, Benjamin Netanyahu was facing a crumbling party coalition and a divided goverment and nation at the time that was at risk of dissolving.

"Many say" the Earth is flat, many say 9/11 didn't happen, and so on and so on.

Zionism seeks a homeland for Jews, a group historically defined by a religious identity,Judaism. To say it "replaces" religion implies that it is separate from or contrary to religion, yet it is built on the foundation of that very religious identity.

So what you say doesn't make sense. Even if you passionately want it to make sense.

Yes, countries with intelligence apparatus, they can have reporting that an attack of some sort can occur, doesn't mean they can prevent attack in every instance.

Hamas is govt of Gaza. Israel treat Hamas like leaders of a govt till it committed the betrayal of a terrorist attack on 10/7.

Hence the war that started the day after. Which isn't going to stop because keyboard warriors are just so so mad!

Is the theory that he
a) knew about the coming attack
b) told IDF to stand down
so
c) the attack would happen
and
d) start a war
to
e) keep Netanyahu in power for longer?

Makes sense to me...
