Seems like its more definite that the captain was the one who turned off the fuel, and the first officer who turned it back on. The first officer was the "pilot in command" for the takeoff, and as such likely had his hands on the yoke as he was the one actively flying the plane. Feels more and more like this was a deliberate act by the captain.

There are rumors that the senior pilot, the one who shut off the engines, was depressed and divorced.

The latest from WSJ: the junior copilot immediately knew what happened and switched the engines back on and was panicking. He knew that the senior pilot had killed him and everyone else on board. He tried to save them but it was impossible.

Impossible. According to all the smartest people here at DCUM, this was all Boeing’s fault.

Where did all those smart people go?

I just read online that one of the pilots actually manually switched it off.

I wonder if this is the same pilot who they found out was depressed.

If he wanted to die why in the world would he think taking other people down with him was even an acceptable idea??

They must be in India reviewing the flight data recorder desperately trying to pin this on Big Airplane.

Bold of you to think a depressed person cares about other people ::eyeroll::

The senior pilot was depressed and was the one who cut the fuel to the engines. The junior co-pilot was flying the plane during takeoff and realized what had happened and tried to fix it, restarted the engines, but it was too late and he couldn't save the plane.

Why did the depressed pilot crash the plane, killing himself and hundreds of other people? Because he was depressed and irrational. And did a terrible thing.

I hope it does not come out that the “depressed” pilot shut off the airflow allowing fuel directly to the engines.

Because that would be an awful outcome to all the loved ones of those who sadly ➕ tragically perished on that doomed flight.

It would also likely trigger lawsuits to whoever employed this person if he actually did in fact do this.

You actually are perpetuating a stereotype that when someone is depressed they actually do not care if they hurt other people……or rather that they want to actually hurt other people!!? 👀

Yes we all have heard the common phrase “Hurt people hurt people,” however there are many depressed people who may want to die but not take anyone down along w/ them.
Most people that do commit suicide do not take anyone down w/them just because so your logic is very flawed PP.

Apparently the previous pilot to land this plane at that airport reported a malfunctioning of the fuel switches.

So I'm not going to jump to any murder-suicide conclusions.

+1.Also the Pilots Association has asked to be involved in the inquiry as the report has many loopholes.
