Your kid is obviously not a train wreck if they are a straight A student so maybe have some faith?
Maybe they don't know where to start, have something in their minds, want to take a break which if you set a limit I think should not be a huge deal.
Your kid has their entire life to work. Maybe taking a breather before they stay is healthy. I hate that in this country it's all about work, work, work! I think the most healthy thing anytime can do is make a plan. Know what they need, want and not rush into things head first.
It's also a very very hard job market.
I rushed into my first job when my parents advised me to take it easy. I wanted to move out ASAP. I did it in a month! Ultimately, they were right and I was wrong because I've been in career hell for decades.
Let things develop. It's been what like a few weeks?
