Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart

SR parent - I agree with this and if you ask people in person you will not get the most honest answers.

Not an SR parent but the daughter of one of my close friends goes there. Not conservative and not super catholic. I heard about pride flags in the classroom and many of the girls go to pro choice marches.

Not sure why you are spreading inaccurate information about the school here when you aren't even in the community. There are no pride flags hanging at SR. The school has pivoted to a much stronger Catholic identity while still being welcoming to non Catholic families. Gender issues are tolerated, but not condoned by any means. It certainly isn't celebrated like it is in pubic schools. Plenty of conservative families at SR who will not tolerate that nonsense.

I hope you are an SR family because you are pretty wide of the mark as to how the school presents itself while recruiting students for the US. The "will not tolerate that nonsense" quip and subsequent anti-homosexual commentary paint a nice picture of someone pretending to have control of circumstances at an institution they do not understand and cannot manage. Good luck to you and yours in holding on to your prejudice, whatever the rationale. The safe places left for those who cannot live with the love of Christ for all humanity seem to be shrinking no matter how vociferously folks demand a return to darker times.

Amen!

Prepare for your child to be on the internet A LOT. The school post photos of the kids every school day. There is a part where your kid needs to consent to it but they don't really have a choice to say no to it in the contract.

But if an adult tries to take a picture of them, can't the child move out of the frame or politely decline?

I don’t know about SR specifically, but DC’s school’s social media mostly posts candids, not posed shots, so the kids can’t get out of them easily and may not even be aware they are in frame.

This is not an SR thing. This is living in the age of social media. Many schools have photographers and they post photos. In SR and other DC’s case, the school also makes some truly great pics that we would not have captured available to families.

What is SR's brother school? Is Georgetown Prep, Landon, or Gongza? Do the school collaborate often?

Mater Dei through middle school and Georgetown Prep for high school. Not a ton of events together but some in high school.

Well that certainly sucks.

SR does not have a brother school, unless something has changed very recently. But it has informal ties to all of the schools mentioned above.

Landon is with Holton and they are not Catholic.

Prep’s sister school is Visitation, not Stone Ridge.

I don’t think SR has a formal connection to a boys’ school. The Sacred Heart schools typically don’t.

I think Visa's brother school is Gonzaga.

None of the Catholic schools have official brother and sister schools. They all tend to be in plays and have activities with schools that are geographically close, but there is NO official brother/sister schools for the DC Catholic schools.

This is definitely true. The closest all boys school to SR is Prep.
