WTF are you going on about? This is about the RWNJs dictating what will be taught, who will teach it, what can not be taught and who can attend Harvard. This is Mao Tse-tung thought police and you are Trumps Red Guard.

Wow. So, this is how democracy does in darkness. Criticism of only one party is allowed. Proof that goose steppers also vote blue and wear blue.

Most people that typically support Democrats will admit that nominating Biden in 2020 was a mistake because his unfitness wound up making it possible for an even bigger mistake to win a second POTUS term in 2024. Being honest with yourself by admitting mistakes is a sign of intelligence that leads to not repeating mistakes. Very few people who mistakenly supported Trump have admitted to their mistake and most of them have repeated that mistake.

What does all this mean? The average Dem is a few notches up the IQ ladder from the average Republican.

Agree that admitting mistakes is a sign of intelligence. Comparing one party to another is ridiculous. Side A being slightly less ((bad characteristic)) than side B on an issue doesn’t mean that side Ą is good. What the PP upthread failed to understand is that some do-good policies at Harvard lead to discriminatory behaviors. They cannot see that because they see that is somehow exempts them from criticism and feel the need to shut down such comments. THAT is also totalitarian behavior. Free speech is only free if it supports the correct side (or the side in office).

Please tell us which "side" is "correct". All we've had to witness in recent years is a bunch of pathetic losers losing to another group of pathetic losers.

NP - 100% agree that the Dem party messed up and in numerous ways even pre-dating 2016. However, I think that doesn't relate to the topic here which should be focused on the disaster we face by defunding the creation of knowledge. Perhaps there is a case to be made to move knowledge building outside of universities (although a hard case IMO since that is where we have the pool of research talent) but the way that the US makes innovative breakthrough is through university research. And just like Trump's harebrained tariff plan to bring manufacturing back to the US BEFORE we have manufacturing capability in the US, putting a halt to current scientific discover BEFORE we have another system in place to continue the research is just not a smart move.

I agree with you. The Dem mistakes and failures during the Trump era have been far less of a direct harm to the American people than the greatest American mistake of all which is being duped into supporting Trump.

I would have thunk it would be slavery, or the genocide of American Indians.

I mean even the Japanese internment and McCarthyism seem worse than what we have now. We are not quite at the blood of tyrants and Patriots stage of the game yet.

Why should Harvard crack down on “pro-Palestine” speech? Or any speech, for that matter?

Is pro KKK speech acceptable to you? Is pro white speech acceptable to you? Is speech ranting against African Americans acceptable to you?

DP. No, pro-KKK speech is not acceptable to me, which is precisely why anti-Zionists speech IS acceptable. They have a lot in common.

Not really, but you're entitled to your biased opinion.

LOL ok, at least I don't support bombing children and aid workers and justify it by calling them terrorists because they happened to be on my "homeland." But cool, go on with your thinking the KKK and zionists are different. Two sides of the same coin, buddy.

You are equating “pro-Palestine” speech with KKK speech? Wow, that’s insane.

KKK speech is abhorant. Doesn’t mean it should be surpressed and driven underground where it festers and becomes more toxic. If you believe in free speech, then you will see that the good will overcome the bad. People will see who the KKK are and stay away.

So racism is OK as long as it oppresses Asian Americans???

Electing Trump and Biden were mistakes that we'll hopefully learn from and put behind us sooner than later. The inhumane suffering we put our fellow human beings through during the formative years of our nation were ungodly travesties that can never be forgotten or corrected.

Best and brightest have been having to go elsewhere for a while, it only makes sense that we should send the funds there also.

Only in the cold, dark space beneath the rock you call home is racism ever "OK".

Harvard, along with the rest of the ancient-eight, have become little more than indoctrination centers.

They no longer provide a meaningful university education.

Only a pea-brain 75 IQ moron who didn't go to Harvard would say such a thing. Read a book, dimwit.

Exactly. Students with differing opinions don’t have a chance.

Are you a Harvard grad with your very limited vocabulary?

I dropped out due to poor performance and heavy drug usage. Everyone doesn't capitalize on every opportunity put before them but some do and many of my Ivy League peers from that era are now elites in their chosen field. It isn't rocket science why Ivy League schools produce many of our best doctors, scientists, and lawyers. People who are intelligent enough and driven enough to make it into schools that accept only the best and brightest have the best odds of remaining a step ahead of the same classmates they outperformed in high school.

DP

I think the point is whether there are limits on speech by content and it is clear that the radicals from both sides believe speech should be limited to speech they approve of. Cancel culture from the left was all about limiting speech. Trump is the response from the right. He is a damn sight now destructive. So maybe next time the day left don't fck around so that everybody doesn't have to find out.
