Why is stupidity something MAGAS worship? So many of them have diarrhea of the spoken word.

They got to this point relatively quickly.

“The DOJ memo says that the federal government will pursue denaturalization cases via civil litigation — an especially concerning move, said Cassandra Robertson, a law professor at Case Western Reserve University.

In civil proceedings, any individual subject to denaturalization is not entitled to an attorney, Robertson said; there is also a lower burden of proof for the government to reach, and it is far easier and faster to reach a conclusion in these cases.”

“According to this new memo, the DOJ is expanding its criteria of which crimes put individuals at risk of losing their citizenship. That includes national security violations and committing acts of fraud against individuals or against the government, like Paycheck Protection Program loan fraud or Medicaid or Medicare fraud.

"To see that this administration is plotting out how they're going to expand its use in ways that we have not seen before is very shocking and very concerning," said Sameera Hafiz, policy director of the Immigration Legal Resource Center, a national advocacy organization providing legal training in immigration law.

"It is kind of, in a way, trying to create a second class of U.S. citizens" — where one set of Americans is safe and those not born in the country are still at risk of losing their hard-fought citizenship, she said.

Other immigration experts point to another part of the guidance, which gives U.S. attorneys broader discretion to determine other eligible denaturalization cases. "These categories do not limit the Civil Division from pursuing any particular case," the memo states, and priorities for denaturalization can include "any other cases referred to the Civil Division that the Division determines to be sufficiently important to pursue."

Sorry naturalized citizens, now you’re not “real” citizens. What dear leader didn’t givith, dear leader shall take away. Or Stephen Miller anyway.

What happens if you are denaturalized? Are you just stateless if you relinquished your other citizenship?

There's a reason they haven't handed back Gitmo.

This. I am a naturalized white European woman. Never meant to permanently move to the US but got “stuck” here due to my American husband. I have a kid who chose university in Europe. Youngest kid has two yrs of HS left and is leaving in a month for a boarding school overseas. Trump’s victory was not a surprise for us, especially after the night of the debate with Biden so we started getting organized. My DH has six more months to reach his full pension (he is a Fed). I refuse to carry anything with me other than my real ID driver’s license (plus knowing myself it would be likely that i actually lose the US passport if i carry it around- i also lost my certificate of naturalization, i know it is somewhere safe in the house but i have no idea where and looked everywhere)

If they kick me out, i will finally go home and my DH will move to europe with me (does not want to move back to his midwest town due to conservative family turned MAGA).

I know I am privileged because I will never risk ending up in a prison in Salvador but I refuse to be afraid and to change my behavior and habits because of Trump or ICE. F-them

Will you protest, post save gazing on sm donate to demi, register as a dem. All of these things make you a target. If you leave the country, will you bring a burner phone for reentry. Citizens don't yet have to worry about these things. Naturalized citizens do. Citizens will one day soon.

I believe in following the process legally, but it was obvious to anyone paying attention that they don’t want to stop at illegal immigrants. If you are a naturalized citizen and voted for this administration, you have your head in the sand. The minute they did away with due process, it was game over.

If we had a national Citizenship ID Card - which I have been a proponent of for years - much of this anxiety would go away.

Democrats fight AGAINST E-verify.

Why?

LOL. Small business owners skew GOP. THEY are the ones who are supposed to use e-verify. Elected Dems can spout all they want, but they are not hiring undocumented people.

businesses fight AGAINST e-verify, too. Why?

But the Legislature in the past has sided with Florida’s powerful business lobby to oppose E-Verify, a federal system used to check the immigration status of workers. This year, lawmakers are considering bills, including one from Gruters himself, that would mandate E-Verify for public employers in Florida, but exempt private businesses from the requirement.

Of course, that was a few years ago, but you see that businesses (many owned by Rs) also don't want to use it. E-verify in FL only applies to businesses with over 25 employees. A lot of those mom and pop businesses hire illegal immigrants, and they are exempt from using E-verify.
