So embarrassing. For them. No adults in the room over there, none.

How is it embarrassing for the governors? It’s embarrassing for Trump. He had the floor and he was the one talking. He embarrassed himself.

My guy, nobody except the extreme left thinks this. I am a Trump-hating, Harris-voting Democrat, and I know that this is an issue where Trump has very positive momentum behind him.

He is making Democrats double-down on a wildly unpopular position. People don’t like this. Voters don’t like this. It is a huge win for Trump and as a moderate Democrat who want us to win again some day, I am begging you to look clearly at this from outside this insane extreme left bubble.

DP. She needed an issue to get him to say he wouldn’t fund the state. That was the conversation. It could be any issue. States have rights and he can’t stop funding them on a whim. She stood up to him, unlike these spineless GOP.

Sigh. And thus that means she lost entirely. She picked an issue that portrays her as an extremist who will harm young girls rather than fund her own state. He can be as much of an obnoxious a$$ as he wants now, because she looks so extreme.

You have no idea how far to one side you are on this issue. I don’t think it’s even 80/20. I suspect it’s more like 95/5.

I’m a Dem and this is exactly my dead last issue. Though I have at least 8 friends with trans kids and I think they deserve protections. But, we need people to stand up to the felon. She did. Period. The end.

In the minds of voters who aren’t in the DCUM sealed bubble, he stood up to a cult-belonging elitist who is willing to tank her own state so a boy can beat a girl in a high school track meet.

Sometimes DCUM makes me want to bang my head against the wall. You people are so extremely out of touch.

You're wasting your time talking to these people for whom partisanship and far-left lunacy are a religion. There is no Democrat policy too dangerous, repulsive, and unfair for the Democrats' base of pathologically narcissistic, power hungry, upper middle class leftists. They specialize in holding luxury beliefs that other people suffer for. I mean these are the kinds of thoroughly evil people who think it's acceptable to say "there aren't that many" in response to male rapists self-identifying into women's prisons to beat and rape vulnerable women under Democrats' policies. They are the far left equivalent of the evangelicals who think forcing a 9 year old to give birth is fine as long as they win the abortion issue.

This country has two dangerous groups of highly partisan, mentally ill, religious extremists fighting for control, and the best we can do at this point is use them to fight each other. The crazies on the right are going to beat back the Democrats' trans agenda for us and then the crazies on the left can tie up the Republicans' oligarchic agenda. That's as good as it gets right now.

All of this is on point but especially the bolded.

It’s seems like an unhinged rant to me. Did you just reply to your own post?

No, I’m not the PP. Yes, it likely seems like an unhinged rant to you, because you are one of DCUMs bubble-wrapped wealthy blue extremists who can’t see just how far left you are to the rest of the country on this issue. But that PP’s summary was dead on.

No it’s way off. And you got everything about me wrong, just like you’re probably wrong on many things. You give yourself way too much credit. It’s best to be aware of your limitations rather than make an ass of yourself.

Look, this is a massively losing issue for Democrats and yet they are leaning in with evangelical fervor. In this, the PP was exactly correct that the Democrats aren’t any different in moral outlook than the Republican evangelicals that are fine with a few nine-year-olds having abortions in service of their nutcase cruel religious beliefs.

This issue has reached the same levels of mentally ill religiosity on the left. Nobody but the insane does the below (in today’s blue cult news) when there are SO MANY issues Democrats could be tackling:

I don’t disagree, hence my post at 20:20. The trans issue and other related issues are nowhere on my radar, or even a thousand miles off my radar. I don’t care about it at all, although I do dislike having it shoved in my face. I think a lot of energy is being spent on this when there are vastly bigger fish to fry. But trumpers talking about religious fervor and extremism is kind of a joke.

That’s the point. The extreme left is as religious and crazy on this issue as the Trumpers are on their insane issues. Like with everything going on, this is what a Democratic governor in a key swing state is spending time on? I am sorry, but this is nothing but blindly evangelical fervor, and it is sinking the party just like the religious evangelicals led to the Clinton presidencies back in the 1990s.

Here’s an article on the Wisconsin governor rather than a tweet. It is incomprehensible.

https://wsau.com/2025/02/21/gov-tony-evers-introduces-bill-to-remove-the-term-mother-from-state-law-in-favor-of-inseminated-person/

I don’t really have a feel for what percentage of liberal people really care about this stuff, and how much of it is just a squeaky wheel minority. But agreed it’s not helpful to spend political capital on this issue.

Well, it’s obviously a big enough percentage of the Democratic Party that in two days, you have two Democratic governors staking out positions on the issue that are incomprehensible to 90% of the voting population.

With everything going on, that this is the place where the Democrats decided to spend political capital indicates evangelical levels of reality-distortion in the party.

I don’t know, maybe she was just standing up for the rule of law out of principle. Regardless, good for her for having some backbone even if I don’t care about this. I just saw the clip on TV and it must have been very uncomfortable. Trump is such a child.

Anonymous wrote:He’s such a thug. For those who didn’t bother to watch the video, this is where he threatens the Maine governor. he’s sitting before a room full of governors and is talking in a casual, unscripted way.

He asked Mills, who attended Friday’s event, whether she would direct her state to follow the order.

“I’m complying with state and federal law,” Mills responded.

“We are the federal law. You better do it because you’re not going to get federal funding,” said Trump.

“See you in court,” Mills said.

“Good, I’ll see you in court, I look forward to that. That should be a real easy one.”

“Enjoy your life after governor,” Trump added, “because I don’t think you’ll be in elected politics.”

All those special people here who thinks Governor Mills should not have “picked a fight” can you please enlighten us what you would said in response to Bully Donald if you were in her shoes?

“I’ve directed my staffers to look at the issue. We understand the intent and direction of the EO, but have concerns with how it conflicts with Maine’s existing law. I understand your question, but we also want to ensure we are are operating within the bounds of the law. We do intend to work collaboratively on this, and understand that this is a sensitive issue for many people, including female athletes.”

You must be a genius! Did you realize that Mills did not have the stage or mic to go into a 5 minutes answer - especially when the questioner is Donald the bully! BTW, what she said answering Donald’s first question is, in essence, no different with what you wrote on so many words.

I give up.

Enjoy wandering in the political desert for a generation, Democrats. Keep handing Trump victory after victory. 🫡

It’s easy to be an armchair quarterback. Mills did the best that any reasonable, law-abiding leader who stands up for all their constituents could come up on her feet. It’s not Mills’ fault that the country elected a criminal, rapist, and bully with no respect for norms or laws. Instead of holding Trump accountable for the absurdity of a president threatening to withhold federal funds from a state, you’re blaming Mills for not providing a five-minute nuanced answer!

This thread is about how he treated a duly elected governor.

He thinks he is the boss of everyone. But he is only the boss of unprincipled weaklings.

I have no opinion about transgender athletes and don’t think it’s a major issue. But Trump threatening someone is horrible. Imagine if any other president had done something similar. Why do people make excuses for his horrendous behavior.

Try to focus on something like tax cuts for billionaires. Your voters love that. And the SS cuts too. And $9 eggs.

Yes, that is definitely what is going on. All blue governors should spend even more time defending trans rights to the exclusion of other issues. They should definitely lean in and follow in the footsteps of the governors of Maine and Wisconsin. That will certainly help Democrats defeat Trump.

Mills was standing up to a bullying president who thinks he is the king! This is not a debate about transgender right, this was a question about whether a governor would do what the state law says even when she is illegally threatened by a narcissist.

They cannot defend the indefensible and that is why they are deflecting the topic as democrats’ support for transgender athletes’ rights.

MAGA’t, he threatened a governor to illegally hold off money to the state unless the governor violates state laws! Are you okay for a president to do that?
