Closing USAID

But the total spend is not just a drop in the bucket.

The money is typically 100% support, with no strings attached, that is, free money to citizens in other countries. I believe that charity is a wonderful thing, until and unless it eventually causes potential corruption and out of control spending.

Maybe it did not need to be put at a full stop but someone needs to take a second look at how it's run. In fact, we have a lot of federal departments that should be evaluated. We should have a legit process in doing it which I definitely believe we won't have under Trump & co., but the idea that USAID and all these agencies should and can just go on till infinity running the way they are currently is contributing to the downfall of the US. The spending must stop. It is as nuts as Trump is in a manner of speaking.

It's not just that you don't have full knowledge it's that you demonstate that you actually have no knowledge and are just full stop lying your ass off.

By the way, the practical reasons for USAID are twofold. One to gain diplomatic support for multilateral actions and two to reduce the amount of refugees coming to the US.

If you compare the amount of money spent on USAID vs the military, it is indeed a drop in the bucket. Your post reveals your ignorance.

At least the US military defends our country and even can provide cool fly overs at sporting events.

I literally cannot think of one thing USAID has done to benefit America.

I mean, if we are good will hunting obviously 9/11 and hundreds of attacks happen on us all the time around the world…so that is not a benefit.
If nothing else it provided cover for our undercover CIA operatives to collect intelligence for our military. All those agents are probably exposed now.

It doesn't do that. That was outlawed as part of the post-Watergate reforms. You're going to get innocent people killed with your lies.

Clearly you don’t understand soft power diplomacy. Omg American schools have really taken a slide in good k-12 education. Depressing!

Do intelligence agencies still hide financial payments under guise of other activities?

Because that is exactly the kind of transaction that Elon is looking to post right now, and it's also the kind of thing that could cause a serious international incident if he casually posts it without knowing what he's doing.

This seems beyond dangerous.

Elon is clearly working for Putin and Xi. He's been working in the OPPOSITE interest of the US for a while now.

Yup - the blue angels flew across the country during the pandemic for 14 and under citizens.

You have no clue how/what inspires the masses and populations.

It need to be closed. It’s a Democrat money laundering scheme. We need to stop spending money on foreigners, illegals and “refugees” and start spending money on our own homeless and veterans who need help.

That is 100% what we are witnessing.

Not our responsibility. It’s the responsibility of those parents and governments to feed and medicate these children.

All this foreign aid of giving people food, deprives local farmers of money.

Where are the homelessness initiatives from Trump? Really? You think he cares about the homeless or vets? Proof please?

He cares about no one but himself.

Many of the homeless and vets too who are in dire straits struggle due to mental illness. Trump dismisses those types as weak and mentally incompetent and doesn’t give a flying eff.

USAID lost its way, IMO. Originally, it was envisioned to provide strategic investments to maximize US influence and open new markets to US goods. It still does some of that, but now so much of the money USAID provides amounts to little more than handouts for poor countries. We have needs at home we need to meet, and USAID or whatever takes its place needs to be strategic to benefit US economic interests. Just as we can’t be the world’s policeman, we also can’t be the world’s humanitarian aid worker.

Why do local farmers need money they didn’t earn? What about MERIT?
