What is your federal agency telling you re: RTO? (No other rants/comments!)

So they’ll personally review time cards and badge data? Sounds like a fun job!

So I’ve actually seen this data. You can bring it into excel and run a macro over it. They can exclude days when you’re on annual leave.

They already have been for about 2 years. Departmental HR, GAO, and OPM have been collecting data every month--badge swipes and timesheets.

The badge swipes thing is so weird to me. I have to swipe through a main turnstile and then a large door to get to my office. The security folks frequently open the main turnstile for employees they know well. People frequently come in/out of the large door, so again, it isn't uncommon for someone to hold the door open or use one badge to allow multiple people through. It's totally possible to work a full day in-office at my office without ever swiping your PIV.

So… make sure you swipe your PIV card then!

We swipe in but not out. you can’t track that way.

Do you use your PIV card to log into your computer? I assume they do monitor me that way, because that’s basically the whole time I am working, unless I go to the printer/scanner, in which case the PIV is in that.

I do a lot of work on my work phone or with paper docs. I’m positive there is a way to track the former but on the latter…good luck lol. What are they going to do, reconstitute shredded paper deposition outlines?

My office usually sends big news out after 4 on Fridays so people can digest it over the weekend rather than on work time.

Same. Just like the Hotel California

The OPM memo says they need to send something out by 5 today. For the DEI one they gave specific actions they were doing in response to it so I assume they will tell us the plan for this one too. They could always just send the email though and say they are still making plans as required by the memo.

OPM just sent out an email that is a "Distribution and Response List" and we are supposed to click on it. They could simply send the memo directly without having to go through Agency heads. Agencies will of course have to come up with plans/designations etc within 30 days but the intent will be communicated.

Our agency has still not communicated their plans so we have to wait and see how it pans out.

We are any way at 6 days/PP. Don't mind if they set it to 8 but having the flexibility of 1 day of telework/week would be nice (that's what we had before Covid). I pity my supervisor who will have to sign off on countless situational telework requests as so many of us have downtown meetings etc.

This is what I am wondering about -- meetings in other offices (at other agencies). If I go across town, do I need permission from my boss now? Do I need to put that on my time card? As what?

I get that the SES are terrified of losing their jobs now and are going to follow the orders, so I'm not going to feel bad for making their lives miserable for making mine miserable.

I legit thought that was spam and reported it

Does anyone else also get official emails that look like phishing attempts? We got this email from a non .gov email about a new HR system telling us to click a link and verify information. No prep email from anyone. So apparently most of us reported us as phishing but apparently that one was legit? They sent an email from above out the next day telling us we needed to actually use that email.

If they want us to avoid phishing they need to not make legitimate emails also look just like phishing attempts.

There was an email yesterday alerting us that we will be receiving the OPM email and it was not spam.

I didn’t get any email like that from my agency. The OPM email looked super suspicious, had no identifying info, etc. it looked like a phishing attempt.
