Goodbye TikTok (for now)

Enough.

Facebook is for old people. I use it as I’m an old millenial who got it in college when you still had to have a college email address. But I spend much less time on Facebook than TikTok

Okay this could have happened on YouTube as well. Wasn’t Justin Bieber first noticed on a YouTube video? And that singer with the Patti Labelle “Patti pies” singing its praises became a backup singer because of his YouTube breakout fandom singing about the pies. What was unique about tic toc that is making people lose their minds when there is concern about national security. I honestly don’t get it and nobody has been able to help me understand the angst.

The national security concerns are way overblown. If they were worried about China having access to information they would ban their shopping apps too. The olds in Congress don't understand any of this. This is about American social media companies not wanting the competition. And it is TikTok.

TikTok security concerns have been spelled out in detail. No one who uses this app has the attention span to read all the way through and remember.

Temp and all the other junk sites operate differently.

There are no security concern that are national security.

How can you hate something you’ve never even tried?

You sound like my 4 year old when they say they don’t like a food they’ve never tried.

This is how most of the smug parents sound on the teen thread too. They couldn’t explain TikTok or Instagram if their life depended on it. One mom even called it Twitter and didn’t realize it.

Many can absolutely explain it and even if many can’t we know there is no national security risk.

Facebook has been for old people since well before TikTok was established.

The Federal government banned use of TikTok a while ago, did it not?

Way to lose credibility and put down the wine.

for you, no one should really be struggling with this. Use the time to cultivate a new hobby. Even my teens don’t get the big deal.

Lots of people make money on tik tok.

I sometimes wonder if TikTok is higher paying because it’s subsidized by CCCP to encourage Americans to grow dependent on it, another form of control and influence.

You’re right. TikTok is totally not addictive at all. Harmless fun. Our kids are getting smarter by spending hours on it every day.

Trump proposed the ban, yes.

Uh no. Let’s go read a book instead. Though I’ve heard Steven King has booked a trip to Mar-a-lago
