Got into Colby but parents said it was too far away. Enjoyed Bucknell and probably wouldn’t have liked in the end how small Colby was size wise.

What's it like to work on The Street?

Penn State/Michigan. from NYC and thought Michigan would be too far for me. It was a tough transition, but it eventually worked out.

I know. I wanted to go away, but went to local CC (was wonderful) and then to a state college.

Similar. I got into and wanted to go to Drew and instead my parents pushed for one of the (better) state schools. Under $50 per credit in the 80's if i recall...which I paid for with my part time job. I ended up getting my Ph.D and it worked out because I had no prior student loans from BA and MA.

Swarthmore; Davidson.

Probably would have fit in better at Swarthmore, but my life turned out fine, so I can't regret Davidson too much.

Stanford or Princeton, MIT

Definitely wouldn't get in today and no regrets

I actually didn't know what I wanted. My parents were checked out (depression era adults scrambling just to get by) and my public high school counselor was poor (so Cal). Money was always an issue. The UC system was too large in my mind but there was no one existant who told me otherwise. I was the top student in my high school so applied to Stanford, Pomona, Scripps and Occidental, got into all, and stupidly picked the latter because it offered a nat. presbyterian scholarship of $1k. I needed adult help but there was no one. And no one from my high school class of 500 looked east. So never even thought of the Ivies.

hahahaha in the spirit of your comment, I'll go...

Wanted Notre Dame... ended up at Catholic University. ahahahah I never had a chance. BUT... CUA gave me an opportunity to study architecture that no other school would have allowed me to try. 30 years later, I've been very successful and enjoyed the fruits of a great education, wonderful campus and lifelong friends. So, there you go!

Go Cards!

Wanted Catholic, went to Catholic on full tuition scholarship.
