And you buried it 3 feet under the ground? |
Yes but did you bury it in your backyard? |
Columbus Division of Police Press Release On Thursday, October 3, at approximately 6:23 PM, Columbus Division of Police officers conducted a preliminary investigation in the 800 block of Cummington Rd. in regards to pieces of a rug found beneath the surface of the homeowner’s backyard. Officers utilized K-9 resources during this preliminary search. CPD held the scene overnight and the officers resumed the investigation on the morning of October 4, 2024. Investigators began digging at the site at approximately 9:00 AM and removed several small rug pieces from the ground. The pieces all tested negative for human or animal remains and, at this time, there are no plans for further testing. |

Stupid gullible people. |
K9s have a fairly high false positive rate especially when they think their handler may want them to alert/they have been reinforced for alerting before in a scenario they find familiar. They are dogs, and they are a tool. They can be helpful for locating things, following a trail, give some indication sometimes but they are extremely variable. The process also relies on humans to interpret their alerts which has a margin of error. In this case it’s just the screening tool the responding agency had to justify using considerable resources on a more complex operation. I am neutral on law enforcement (it’s obviously necessary in society), but I do think most K9 activity doesn’t have a lot of evidence and many times could be replaced with better tools in 2024. So I do think it’s worth discussing. I don’t blame individual K9 handlers who are doing their job and following their agency policy. |
It would be interesting to know what the two dogs actually tracked. Two dogs sent out at separate times went to the same spot in the yard. |
This is the equivalent of making a false 911 call, she needs to be fined or criminally charged |
So..."Antiques Roadshow" determines the age of old stuff every week. Check it out on PBS, you learn a lot just by watching. |
You didn’t watch any of the videos, did you? She never claimed there was a body. She gave them facts — I found a buried rug, come look into it if you want. They chose to bring out dogs and dig it up. Likely for the publicity because it had already gone viral. That was their choice. |
Huh?? The police initially came at her request. Then it was up to them. The POLICE made the decision to bring the cadaver dogs AND to excavate. What did she do wrong? |
You have no idea what you’re talking about. She was doing some sort of yard project and came across the rug. She shared on TikTok and the general consensus was the notify the police and stop work so she wouldn’t potentially contaminate a crime scene. And let’s be real, a buried rolled up rug is suspicious and there are stories of buried bodies in yards being discovered years later. If OP had carried on digging and it was something nefarious people would be like omg why didn’t you call the cops. There’s always some a hole out there to judge everything. |
Sorry not OP, I meant the TikToker! |
+1 Even though it turned into a big nothing burger, she did the right thing. See something, Say something. |
She pretended she found a buried rug. |
