I read this based on this comment and it was amazing! Not only is it a story of this amazing American Woman, it's also a really gripping tale of what Germany was like leading up to WW II, exactly how Hitler obtained and kept control of the country, and all the brave Germans who were against him and did everything in their power to try and defeat him.

I read this too and have not yet met anyone else who read it! It was incredible and fascinating. At the same time, I had a headache the whole time I read it. I cannot imagine living like that and heroism involved is stunning.

I just finished “Here One Moment” by Liane Moriarty and it was fantastic! Maybe her best. It was thought provoking and multi faceted while still being a relaxing and fast read. 5/5!

I hope this finds you well, by Natalie Sue - I just downloaded this randomly from the library but really enjoyed it. Quick read and I found it funny

Wellness by Nathan Hill - was okay. Felt like he was beating certain messages to death - could have used a better editor. But overall enjoyed.

Currently about to start either The Fraud by Zadie Smith or North Woods by Daniel Mason… have to see how I’m feeling

Freida McFadden writes the best psychological thrillers!

I initially was drawn to her Housemaid novels and have now read all of her books! 📚

Great author.

I am about 1/3 of the way through it and enjoying it. The concept reminds me of The Measure, which I also enjoyed.

My favorite book from this author. I hope you enjoy it!

It's wonderful. But my fave Ishiguro is Never Let Me Go. I'm a big lover of sci-fi.
One bleak and depressing book. I almost DNF.

I also almost DNF. In fact I would have, but I figured since it was written by a Nobel laureate that I would give it a chance. It wasn’t so much that it was “bleak and depressing” (that’s kind of the point of the book IMO), but the fact that it wasn’t very interesting. Not much happened, and the characters spent so much time setting up the supposed important points, and then you get there and it’s like - that was the big deal they spent five pages setting up? The concept itself was interesting, but the execution and the exploration of said concept was lacking.

lol, “execution” doesn’t get much better than Ishiguro.

lol funny how we can disagree on that, right?

Well, you can “disagree” but that is just ignorance. There isn’t a literary critic in the world who would agree with you.

Thanks, adding to list!

I am opening Demon Copperhead now. Finished Summer Romance today, it was a good book, I like Annabel Monaghan.

I'm reading an ARC of "Old Soul" by Susan Barker. It's essentially literary horror (but more creepy and interesting than anything).

I requested it on a whim and am surprised by how much I'm enjoying it. It has many genre-defying elements and unique POVs/twists, but is also really thoughtful. I've stayed up way too late several nights this week because I didn't want to put it down.

I’m finally reading The Mothers by Brit Bennett. I loved the Vanishing Half and this one has started out strong as well.
