My boys are now 13 and 15. Thankfully they seem to have a great group of friends now but over the years, there have been some boys who had no manners. My boys have known from a young age that if a kid behaves poorly, he will likely not be invited back. I also told them since a young age to be polite at others’ homes or else they may not be invited back.
That being said, my kids eat our snacks. I don’t keep tabs on which kids put their plates in the sink. Yes, some boys are obviously used to cleaning up after themselves while others are not. This matters very little to me. I clean up the table. Nerf guns at table would be a big no and that has never happened to me. |
"Double redshirted"? My kid is 9 and going into 4th, with a Sept 1 cutoff. He wasn't redshirted, he just has a late fall birthday. So a kid who is 10 now would have been, once. I don't get where you're coming up with double. |

My kid is 9 going into 4th grade and will turn 10 in 3/2025. He is right in the middle of the ages. Most 4th graders will turn 10 during 4th grade.
Manners are learned at home and must be reinforced. I am guessing kids were excited to be at a party. Having to wait during a party while you do dishes. Weird. Agree kids today are rude. I find people ruder too. Rude clueless parents raise kids without manners. |
My DD turned 10 this summer. She started kindergarten at 5 and is going into 5th grade. Her friend turned 10 a couple a week ago, he did redshirt (beginning kindergarten at 6) and is starting 4th. |
