Dual enrollment is part of the Blueprint for Maryland's Future and certainly isn't a new idea. Far more students in MCPS do dual enrollment than were enrolled in MVA. So yes, if your proposal for bringing virtual school back is to kill dual enrollment, then it probably isn't going to go anywhere.

MCPS could save a lot of money by offering more advanced classes through the MVA vs. paying to outsource. Dual enrollment is a separate program. MCPS allows any student to take classes at MC and they pay for it.

Yes, that's what dual enrollment is.

And sure, it might be cheaper. Similarly, as you've suggested before, we could save a lot of money by closing all the schools. But that wouldn't be good for anyone in the county except the 800 former MVA parents.

No, MCPS has several ways to do classes at MC. Pay attention. Yes, maybe you are right and we should move all kids to virtual to save money since MCPS has a huge shortage.

There you go. Why stop at other proposal- closing Cabin Branch Elementary- when we could close the whole district? Propose that to Taylor. Brilliant strategy to reinstate MVA.

Brilliant idea. Why are we opening up a new school when we don't have the budget for it and to do that, we are sacrificing another school?

If only you were able to gather up enough courage to propose these brilliant ideas to the BoE!

MVA families and staff have made many proposals. I'm assuming how nasty you are one of the BOE members... don't worry, come election time, you'll be hearing from us too to make sure you don't get reelected since you cannot put students first and your wasteful spending and poor judgment is why MCPS is such a mess.

Taylor so far has only been a spokesman for the BOE. He hasn't done anything yet. He sent an email saying they were working on school safety and more to come at the end of the month (so basically no plan).

Doubt he'll say or do much. He's the BOE puppet.

Would it be better to close a rich school. This is a new school. It can wait to open. Kids can stay put.

So at the 8/20 BOE meeting, he is going to lay out how he plans to tackle top MCPS issues?

There is an item on the agenda called "Superintendent’s Entry Plan, Engagement and Action in the First 6 Months."

Interesting, that must be new as I looked the other day. So, not much. A few more security guards, some cameras (about time) and just telling the students to behave. Given that document, they need to expand the CRO program, camera's at all schools and much more.

The BOE 100% put students first when they voted to terminate the MVA program. It was a failing program that the data showed did a poor job ini educating kids.

It's an unfortunate reality that the Superintendent and BoE need to watch out for kids being abused and isolated by their parents.

Can you show us how the MVA was failing students? MCPS refuses to release current data. Why are you withholding data?

You clearly are clueless if you think in person school protects kids. More kids are abused in person than in virtual. Not only do in person kids have the risk of being abused by their parents, but also by peers, teachers, staff, coaches and more. Look at all the violence in mcps. So, now you are sending kids who were safe at home into dangerous situations.

Via a boring, uninspired, asynchronous learning module on Canvas. Yeah, that'll really win their hearts and minds over.

That's the best Dr. Taylor could come up with? Give me a break.
