It's after July 1, new thread.

Four weeks on the job.
How is the new guy doing?
What has he changed, eliminated, proposed?

No. That would have been the BOE's and/or Elrich's decision as it was tightly coordinated with his retirement from MCPD.

Jones was appointed by the BOE about five minutes after Taylor was. Felder and Johnson were the superintendent/interim acting superintendent at the time.

He met with disappointed MVA families recently.

Can we give him like a few months? It's a huge school system, bit early to be making big moves, he's coming from another system and is still learning about all the moving parts I'm sure.

Sure, we can give him a few months. But he knew he was walking into a house on fire so you can't be mad at people for asking what he's prioritizing and what problems he's solving.

Right now, the system is in get-ready-for pre-service/start of school year mode. I would expect that Dr. Taylor is spending his time right now getting to meet and understand the roles of the various people in central office, as well as visiting some schools and meeting principals. He can't make changes unless he understands what is currently going on.

Next board meeting is August 20. That has been when the BOE sets their initial plan for the year's business meetings. That's the first opportunity for Dr. Taylor to start showing his priorities.

And, he promised follow-up and more support and the MVA familes have not heard back from him and multiple kids still don't have updated IEP's or new placements as promised.

He has done absolutely nothing in the past four weeks but photo ops. He works for the BOE and they are running the show, not him. His opinion and willingness to help doesn't matter.

He has done nothing to address the safety issues, curriculum issues, MVA, behavior in schools, and budget issues - in terms of schools and teachers getting what they need, and supporting struggling students.

No, we need change NOW. He has been a superintendent. He knew what he was getting into.

MVA is a dead horse. Those families need to let it go.

How many year/s is his contract? Simply asking not suggesting anything, dcumers. Yes, he just started , so how much time should families give before asking the questions as PP did?

Clearly, you want the complete solar system delivered in four weeks. Move to Virginia please.

I haven't heard of any instances of student safety issues in the last 4 weeks, nor have I heard of any behavioral issues from students during that time either. He's done nothing to address the MVA because there is nothing to address - the BOE terminated the program and those parents are going to complain no matter what. And as for the budget, I don't even want to try to come up with what you think he's responsible for fixing on that front in his first 4 weeks on the job - is he supposed to be out there digging for pots of gold so he can push more money toward MCPS without the County Council's involvement?
