Please don't tell me you think DCUM is actually reflective of DC parents. |
I can’t speak for other parts of dcum, but the comments in this private school section are reflective of the parents talked to at our kids schools. |
Then move to a place that’s better suited to your ambitions and temperament. The most insufferable people are those that don’t have enough courage and agency to do the most basic thing and live in the city/town of their choice. Don’t blame your job—there are jobs everywhere. Grow a spine and MOVE! |
| ^ I forgot to add, people like you are insufferable because you’re too much of a coward to move, but you complain incessantly about DC and its residents. PSA: DC isn’t going to change, so suck it up or MOVE! No one is going to listen to you complain about a problem with a simple solution. |
Geez - not PP but you are really the one that is the problem here, not the PP. Those of us who aren't interested in this BS do our best to not engage with people like you. And I'm sure you are doing the same. |
Uhhhh. Have you… physically been to these campuses? I went to one of these schools and my husband went to the other. I’d take the dorms, labs, dining halls, and some (not all, will grant you that) of the athletic facilities and amenities at BOTH UCs over USC any day. Also, USC doesn’t have the lowest acceptance rate… (UCLA 2023 = 8.8%, USC 10%, Cal 11.6%). USC also, like many California major city campuses, is dealing with a housing shortage, which is driving a lot of students to private off-campus houses (great article in the Daily Trojan about this). |
Yes, I definitely avoid people like you (and others) who chronically complain about DC, yet you’re still here. Do us both a favor and move. |
Uh, I said I moved here three years ago. Ive moved several times for work and lived in just about every area of the country. Were outta here when the kids graduate high school, largely because of the snotty elitism where a kid going to ucla is seen as a failure. |
Why wait? Leave now! Go back to wherever you can handle the local standards and elitism at your level. If you CHOOSE to stay, you really should work on your self confidence. No one can make you feel bad, about UCLA or anything else, without your permission. |
Assumptions - I don't complain about DC. I just don't like people like you. |
Wow. You have demonstrated a heretofore unmeasured level of insecurity - even for the DCUM privates forum. Impressive. |
It’s mutual. I despise people like you. |
You should know. DC’s “elitism” has affected your self-esteem. I’m unimpressed. |
By your logic, a person who complains about any aspect of life in the U.S. should move to another country. |
