Here's Newton South High School: Newton North HS: https://profiles.doe.mass.edu/profiles/studen...070505&orgtypecode=6 Black: ~3.5% Asian: ~25% Hispanic: ~9% White: ~56% Comparable to Whitman, Newton North, Lexington, and Brookline. |
What's the commuting situation? Are you both working in the city? |
Do they include the Metco population? |
You can email them to ask. |
Email who? There’s a lot of figures listed and I’m wondering if they include kids who are bussed in or just kids who live there. |
White New Englander here. I agree with this. |
To plug in BCC stats, which show significantly more diversity than just Whitman: 48.3% White 21.1% Hispanic 17.0% Black 6.8% Asian 6.1% Two or More Races |
Right- it’s two different questions. All three cities have areas that are majority white, majority black, majority Latino, and those with more balanced diversity. I know plenty of people in DC who crow about its diversity, yet their social circle is all white. |
I'm sure you can figure it out if you are interested. Call the Newton School Department. |
That's irrelevant, unless you want to compare BCC with its Boston-area counterpart. Go for it. |
I wouldn't pick NYC because getting out into nature is a lot harder there. I have mild asthma and can definitely feel it more in NYC. I love visiting but I wouldn't want to live there. |
I grew up in DC, lived in NYC for years and am now raising a family in Boston. Could not imagine raising a family in DC or NYC to be honest. Great places to visor or live w/o kids but Boston its so great, plus amazing public schools in several suburbs just outside the city. |

Those stats include the METCO kids |
That would probably be CRLS in Cambridge. |
