Why do so many parents let their kids just stay home?

It is hard for a lot of students so they don’t need to miss even one day of school.

Because they have straight As and if they don’t want to go on a particular day I don’t make them. They can keep their grades up without going.

I was watching the the other day,
This 2nd grade missed over 10 days because he likes watching the price is right with the grandma, the grandma didn’t care that he missed school, he was going to be held back if he miss more days, I think he went back to school

What level classes is your kid taking?

Better question- what level of LEARNING is your kid doing? We all know that cramming to ace a test is possible, but has any real learning occurred? Maybe your kid can pull it together to get enough for the small number of graded assignments, but are they doing the best they could be? Not everything is graded and clearly grades aren’t always reflective of learning. Even if your kid can figure out a way to game the system to get the A when missing tons of school time… what is your kid actually learning?

Stop sending your sick kids to school and mine won't get sick.

Your kid is patient zero.

This same type of incident occurred with her kid and she acknowledged how hard it was to talk him through it and encourage him to return to school rather than let him stay home. She thinks that part of the reasoning of this phenomenon is that so many parents have anxiety themselves and pass along their behaviors / lack of coping mechanisms.

Not surprising considering the government kept schools closed because a kid could kill his classmate’s grandma with a single sneeze.

Operating from a place of anxiety and fear was promoted as the decent, moral position for many months. However many people had issues prior to 2020, many more have them now.

Yeah and apparently it gave parents the idea that parenting isn't important either.

If your kid is pulling good grades why shouldn’t they take a day off here and there if they feel like it?
