Because it's year 2024 already but you keep living in the past that is long gone. |
Spot on and well-articulated post |
This, this, this! When test scores are discussed here it seems that people regard it as a be-all ranking. It is not used like that with TO schools or test-aware schools or test-required schools. It is one more piece of the applicant puzzle. |
So there are more than 2% of kids applying to Harvard and Yale that had scores below 1300 that were accepted? Sure kids can try to apply but I don't believe H/Y are accepting tons of kids with that low of test scores who didn't submit. Very few kids will have that low of test score (sub 1300) and manage to get into Harvard or Yale (or most T25). |
I know plenty of kids with too GPAs who can’t too 1200 on the SAT |
You personally have no knowledge of this. |
This is only for schools like Tulane, BC, Northeastern etc. T25 schools have had high test scores for decades now. |
The average SAT score nationally is 1028. The average ACT score is 19.
There are some states - Texas, Florida, Michigan, Rhode Island, Idaho, Oklahoma, West Virginia, Illinois, Indiana, New Mexico, Colorado, and DC - the lowest - that don't even break a 1000. But students from those states are being penalized for scoring in the 1300s and 1400s. Any student from DCPS that scores above 1300 is a hero and a bright kid. And those scores should count in context. TO has distorted everything. Good for Yale and Dartmouth and MIT for requiring scores. A 1350 from Anacostia and similar means a lot. And it's time to stop punishing smart kids from poor schools. TO has been a disaster for them. |
My nephews district average SAT was 1010. He got a 1450 and was told for T10 not to use it, but for T20+ to use it.
Crazy… |
Baltimore City public school parent here. From your mouth to the admission officer's ears! |
What are you trying to say? Pre-covid, NEU and BC had some of the highest SAT averages of any college? You make no sense. If TO is done away with, you will see the selective privates (versus the equity-driven publics) scoop up even more of the high SAT test takers. |
In 2020-2021, before TO BC 25%-75% SAT 1350-1480 NEU 25%-75% 1430-1540 Tulane 25%-75% 1360-1470 The high SAT average isn't complete BS. The studies and internal data say they SAT's predict college outcome. It is natural for highly selective colleges to use the SAT. |
So maybe we should be looking at 2019 CDS ranges to decide which schools are in range for our 2025 kids? |
Some of us have been arguing that since the inception of test optional policies. The last test-required CDS was the 2020-2021 CDS. |
That is not true. It's like you're not reading any of the reasoning behind reinstating. In fact, TO biased admissions against those students. You are really obtuse. |
