a.) if you don't have actual evidence, use things like innuendo and guilt-by-association and other tactics and
b.) a lie is halfway around the world before the truth can get its pants on
c.) knowing that the GOP base sucks at fact checking, independent corroboration, and logic-based analysis, and as a result, continues to believe crap that was debunked months and years ago
