I was thinking the same.

On an unrelated note, I think the reddit kids have found this thread and are running amok in the anonymity.

What about Clark University? They have a good psychology program. Out in Worcester, though.

It’s definitely hostile. Not sure if that’s unusual.

Did the NEU booster/ employee show up?

When does the NEU booster NOT show up. She is literally always lurking or posting, it’s inappropriate use of the forum honestly.

Says the NEU hater LOL

Ah there you are!
Your incessant and warped boosting is so tedious.
DCUM is for parents. Do you get that DCUM is not your personal NEU marketing platform?

Nor is it your grudge platform. Get help.

No one has a grudge. My kid’s school is occasionally mentioned on here in a negative way and you know what, that’s fine because no school is perfect.

There are many people that have a negative view of NEU based on their research and/or experiences based on the application process. This is allowed and assuming it comes from a single person over and over is just insane.

No way to prove it of course, but very odd that anyone other than an employee of the school would have this much invested in squashing any negative comments.

+1000 those of us parents with kids in college recognize that there are positives and negatives about every school. We know when to chime in and when to turn the other cheek. The NEU booster is NOT a parent, that much is evident in her posts. I do believe she is an NEU employee and she is manipulating the forum. Her account should be deleted.

DP. +1 more. I get tired of the NEU marketing. Then, the occasional vigilante bashing. Every thread devolves.

Same for the political lobbyist(s).

I really wish this forum required some type of login.

It could just be someone who is tired of the disingenuous anti-NEU (and a couple other schools mentioned more regularly than others) poster/s - whether it is one or many doesn't even matter, their mission remains the same. If they were not admitted to that school, they need to let it go, or get help. But yes, this forum should require a log in.

She won’t go to BC because of religion but she’ll go to Fordham?
I don’t think you know enough about the schools OP

She believes Fordham is less religious than BC even though both of the schools are Jesuit. However, she has not seen BC in person yet and she might change her mind! It's not a dealbreaker for her

When we toured BC, the Jesuit approach was overt. But, they emphasized it as more a state of mind on spirit and service. That spiritual aspect did not have to be Catholic or Christian. I think students have to take a religion/ethics class. They had all sorts of classes, Jewish, Hindi, Muslim, ethics, probably even something towards atheism. We are Christian and not Catholic, and I was struck by how overt they were about being Jesuit. But, also inclusive and not indoctrinating. Definitely check it out for yourself.

DP - We visited and agree that they were very focused on the Jesuit approach. It felt very religious to us based upon the admissions speaker, the panel and the architecture.

My husband went to BC, and my older son looked at it. It's a beautiful school, and their presentation before the tour was impressive. It definitely leans Catholic (70%), and white (over 50%) UMC. There are only 411 Black/African American students out of 9500+ undergrads. While a lot of the students don't heavily practice Catholicism or go to church regularly, it is definitely a part of the culture.

My DS applied to NEU and BC last year. 1580 SAT, 4.0 UW GPA, very good recommendations and ECs. He got rejected from NEU. I assume it may have been yield protection, but who knows? He got into BC, and is now at UVA.

Even though I agree that it's not that easy with all four schools, I disagree that BU is the easiest to get into.
It wasn't the case around me. I guess it depends on the kids

I agree. Totally depends on the profile of the kid who is applying whether one school is "easier" to get into than another.

When you forget posts like this never include MIT or Harvard, you get a sense of strong of college town Boston is.

Definitely Yield Protected. He’s at UVA. They knew they weren’t the top option.

Right. I agree. So to OP, if your DD is really interested in NEU with those stats, I would probably apply ED.

My kid had the opposite result. 1540 SAT 3.97 UW GPA, good recommendations and not bad ECs.
Applied EA to NEU. NEU was a good fit and accepted to Boston campus.
Applied EA to UVA(In-state), Waitlisted by UVA
UVA was at the bottom of the list anyways, so was like ok whatever and is now at NEU.

I'm the person whose DS was rejected at NEU. I should have added he applied RD to NEU. So again, I would emphasize to OP that if your child wants NEU, apply EA or ED (not sure if they have both).

They have both, and also ED2
ED1 and ED2 help a lot as you can imagine, but EA doesn't really do much.

Early Action at NEU doesn't help at all with respect to an admissions bump. Early action acceptances came out two weeks ago. The acceptance rate was 5%. EDI and EDII are highly recommended if NEUU is your top choice. Otherwise, even with high stats it's a lottery pick.
