what a snore. they are milking the "heartbroken widow looking for love" narrative again. Hopefully, her story holds up better than Jerry's. They had a chance to do something more interesting. Seems like viewers really liked the women friendships. Think I'll sit this one out. |
I won't be watching. She's nice enough but so boring and that plastic face, ugh. |
I can't believe it wasn't Faith or Leslie! I guess divorced women need not apply, even though they are more relatable. Well, I'm glad it's finally settled and I can check out of this franchise. |
Leslie immediately posted congrats to Joan. Gracious. |
Her story will definitely hold up better than Gerry's, no question. I can't imagine her being interesting on tv, but I guess we'll see. |
I found her to be quite awkward on tv, with a tendency to make odd, over exaggerated facial expressions. I think she'll probably be more reserved and sensible than a Faith or Leslie (look how they fell for Gerry's malarkey), but how does that make for good tv? I'd peg her as the least likely in all the possibilities discussed to leave engaged. |
She's the prettiest. Except for maybe Edith.
Her Insta is awkward as hell. |
She would be the prettiest, but way too much work detracts. A joker effect happening as a result, which is a shame, given how naturally good looking she is. I hope she does NOTHING to her face prior to filming. I think she's very articulate and sincere but yeah her Insta is a weird combo of thirsty and awkward. |
It's the work. She's pulled too tight, tries to overcompensate with over-emoting then just looks odd. |
The producers will work with her on this. Guarantee she'll look a hundred times better with their coaching, plus great makeup, styling, and lighting. |
Maybe if the stone-face was caused by botox, she can let it fade away and get some natural movement????
I agree that she is very statuesque and pretty for her age in pictures. But, in live action, she just didn't have much charisma. I do recall that her ONE memorable moment was her poem. She knocked that out of the park. But, the lack of facial expressions is going to be very hard on the audience. Maybe it's good for the show b/c she has the ultimate "poker face!" I think we can conclude that the producers wanted to put the name/image of the Golden Bachelorette out there, and they wanted a very traditional "looker" to gin up more men who would be willing to "chase" her. The producers must be counting on men to think with their lower-brain. It's very clique -- which makes it perfectly "Bachelor." I hope Joan is up to the task... it sounds exhausting. |
Agree. She definitely was auditioning for the part very early. Look at me! |
Plot twist?: did Gerry get divorced so he can go for Joan? |
Gerry was boring too (until his past came to light and then he was no longer boring but in all the wrong ways).
I don't think the producers are going for fantastic charisma in a bachelor or bachelorette. They're looking for the contestants to provide the drama. |
