What’s going on at Travilah ES?

Look if 90% of your staff leaves, student scores drop, and your parent community is so unhappy that they are bothering to organize and write to the BOE, then this is not the right job for you.

Those are pretty objective measures of failure to perform.

So can anyone please share what positive contributions the principal has made?

Anonymous wrote:Wow I just looked at the staff directory. There are only two teacher names and two former SAHM PTA moms who apparently are teachers now that I recognize. Everyone else from younger teachers that had only been there a few years when we were there to teachers that had been there 10+ years, counselor, front desk staff, etc are gone.

The turnover has been very high!

Yes! Thankful you are not coming. Home sun our area sell lightning fast for a lot abode asking. Parents are caring and involved whether you are a private school parent or send kids to MCPS. There is overlap at the gym, at kids activities, friends gatherings and more. Everyone is connected. People care and truly love living here. You would stand out! Don’t let the door hit you on the way out!!

Wow. Turnover. The horrors.

Losing 90% is failure to retain staff and failure to maintain operations. No way to sugar coat it. Pretty basic fireable offense.

This is the basic truth about the school. It’s been a wonderful place, most of the parents are very happy and friendly, of course there are a few outliers. But overall it’s an amazing community, very little pressure or competition, and was lucky to have a huge group of friends for my kids and myself. I can see by some angry parents that they were left out but truly they just have been difficult to be around.
And in the same vein, as happy as we have been, the staff has not. The numbers don’t lie.
The rumors about the principal straight up screaming at staff and constantly pulling the race card and intimidating them. Threatening them with write ups and retaliation.
The abrupt retirements mid year. The longtime teachers leaving to go anywhere else. The new hires also seeing the situation and saying no thanks.
Staff is unhappy at travilah. PTA and parents tried to talk to principal. She deflected and ignored. Test scores and staff unhappiness don’t lie. Something is wrong and parents cared too much to turn a blind eye. Parents turned to BOE to help principal and now she turned her rage on them. Something is wrong. This isn’t professional and it’s not ok.

Excellent synopsis! I hope YOU are able to come to the meeting tonight and voice this to all! Be prepared, the principal can and does twist words, data, and facts to make it fit to her advantage.
