Snow closing tracker

With DCPS and MoCo closed, I expect the fee privates on delay to call a full closed today at 630am

Snow accumulation picked up a bit last hour and inner suburbs will end up more like 4 inches. That’s a closure usually.

Farifax and Loudoun are closed too.

The only ones still on 2 hour delay are GDS, Sidwell, Cathedral schools, Holton/Landon.

I remember commuting to NCS from outside the Beltway. Twice we had to leave the house before they made a call so we’d get there on time if they opened. Should have learned our lesson after the first time they had a teacher turning cars away on Woodley Road and telling us to go home because the school had announced the closure while we were on the highway. At least with cellphones and text alerts that won’t happen anymore.

Does your school have special MLK/diversity day programming scheduled for all day tomorrow? Our does so I think that is part of why they have not cancelled.

I'm not sure how they can bump this and lose another instructional day and yet running/scheduling this day is a large part of the DEI person's job for the year.

Our school had Day of Service voluntary activities today that were canceled. If that’s the only reason your school is staying open (although I kind of doubt it—the list of schools currently on delay doesn’t surprise me and I do think most or all will end up closing), that would be extremely dumb.

Embarrassing for these schools that went with 2 hour delay. Even DCPS is closed.

Just got an email update (closure tomorrow). DCPS didn't announce until 10 PM, so I imagine a number of schools were waiting on that.
